Agreed. I’m 2 episodes in too and think it’s great. They’ve built a very rich, detailed world to tell stories in.

I like the tech and how smart the designs are.

On four now, this is a good crime noir, no way it's boring.
It's crazy.
Catholics can't be brought back because off their faith coding. So all these victims have been converted. Just another arm of the web.

Is the sex and nudity as over top as some of the reviews I read made it seem?

There’s full frontall with a dude for no necessary reason, there’s dead bodies in the morgue nudity, there’s clone body nudity, there’s stripper nudity, and then there’s plain old sex scene nudity. And I’m just 2 episodes in. Definitely not something to watch with the kids or parents.

I watch westworld and got with my parents. No issues.
The male full frontal was odd though. I think that actor just wanted to show.

You and I have different parents. But yeah, the excessive nudity is inline with those HBO shows.

Not really. It fits with the show’s themes where the human body has become a disposable vessel where the people could care less if you’re seen in the nude or not.

Finished it up and for the most part I really liked it. They have a few deus ex machinas that I didn't care for, and sometimes they spend a bit too much time on a less interesting storyline, but those are my only real complaints. Loved the universe and visuals. The story was engaging enough. Ortega was a smokeshow.
ETA: For people that are meh on the start, I felt the same way. But it gets better. IMDB has the first two episodes as the lowest rated.

Started this today. Liked it. Will finish it. Also liking Van Helsing.
Edited to say i agree about the acting not being good. Not horrible either.

That she was. I thought they did a pretty good job with the story overall, though they changed things from the books that irritated me (go figure).
Only main issue I have is the fact that they made Kovacs into a freedom fighter that worked with Quell. Part of what makes Kovacs so interesting in the books is he's a very grey character who still has a moral code while being slightly unhinged. The tv show changing him to the freedom fighter makes him into more of the typical Hollywood good guy role, which is fair less interesting and hurts the story I think.
That being said, they nailed the overall feel of the series and did a good job with casting I think. Be interesting to see where they would go with a sequel and who they would cast as Kovacs in a second season.

How do we handle NetFlix shows? Set up a separate Spoiler thread?
Also, and I'm just six episodes in so don't post a spoiler if that's the answer, but they made a reference to the neural stack tech being alien in nature. Was that something they just found somewhere else? I haven't seen aliens in the show unless you count humans that grew up on one of the other worlds in the protectorate.

That issue is somewhat clarified a few episodes later.

Spoilers
Ancient long gone aliens, they called the Elders.
Not much about them.
I kept wanting to see what was wrong with AI hotels, and of no one used them how where they allowed all that real estate?
Are property taxes and land deeds a thing of the past?
Also. What exactly is the Protectorate?
They mention that the USA is gone, but the show is set in California so did it fall or evolve?

SPOILERS BELOW (DON'T LOOK IF YOU HAVEN'T REACHED EPISODE 9)
I figured the ambience of the AI Hotels was all a holographic or neural projection. When Poe "died" - I expected the whole place to revert to some lesser state... Like a warehouse subdivided into basic, possible dingy rooms.
