To be clear I don’t mean this in a “this will save the movies” sort of way. Just a rare sight to see in todays landscape and I hope it’s successful and leads to more similar type of swings

I'm assuming the next Tarantino will be in 70mm since Once was a pretty big success - not sure about Killers of the Flower Moon, but I'm assuming Scorsese tried

I will say this... The imax dome at the shreveport sci-port might be a pretty good experience.

Got a ticket to see it there next Saturday.

That's not bad at all. Really hope/feel like it needs to be seen this way.

Movie board may not be the place for you then

I don't know, man. I get talking about this movie and maybe even being excited to see it. But in this thread, we have guys already saying it may be a modern classic. We have groups of friends who are making road trips to see it. You're even travelling two hours for it. I find things like that for a movie to be a little odd.

Don't get me wrong, I hope you all enjoy it, and I'm not trying to yuck your yum. I'm just making an observation.

have you seen movies in the dome before? if so how was it? The only thing I would worry about is things being contorted and also a potential motion sickness

All-Star cast and production team putting out a movie in theaters that’s based on one of the most significant events in the history of mankind.

In an age of making as much money as possible off some obscure Marvel character or releasing a shite load of stuff direct to streaming, Oppenheimer is quite exciting.

The excitement is warranted.

I’m watching it in traditional 70mm. No imax. Will have to see it in digital imax another weekend.

For films like this, don't reviews start to leak out by now?

No, I’ve never been there before. There’s a lie-MAX at the Boardwalk in Bossier, but figured I’d try this one.

I normally don’t have any issues with motion sickness. I’ll report back on how it is.

Well I just learned I’ll be in Nashville on the 29th. Looks like I’m seeing it in 70mm IMAX. Going to take my 14-yo son… he has heard about it and showed interest.

That's awesome... but you may want to go ahead and secure tickets. They may even be sold out already.

Besides his role in turning us into a Nuclear Superpower...Oppenheimer's story is crazy.

How the father of the atomic bomb made Oak Ridge famous

quote:

At Cambridge he struggled with depression and jealousy, attempting to strangle one friend and to kill his tutor, future Nobel Laureate Patrick Blackett, by dousing his apple in poisonous chemicals.

My personal interest...
quote:

Oppenheimer’s suggestions to Lawrence, his UC Berkeley colleague who developed the calutrons for producing enriched uranium at the Oak Ridge Y-12 plant, “led to a considerable increase in the efficiency of the process.”

My father was a physicist who worked on the Calutrons in Oak Ridge from the early 60s until the mid-90s, so Oppenheimer and Lawrence's stories are of personal interest to me.

He said they hired kids straight out of school because they were fit enough to remove rad material from behind shielding with 6 foot tongs, run them up 2 flights of stairs, then drop them behind another set of shielding.
