that's kind of what Azor Ahai does, or at least he's the person who defeats the NK (whether in single combat or whatever)
Robert Baratheon won Robert's Rebellion. . .but it was Jaime who killed the Mad King and Tywin's Army who took KL.

Who is leading the conflict gets credit for the win.

AA may not have actually defeated the NK.

and it's based off a book series named "A Song of Ice and Fire", aka, Zombies and Dragons

That's one way to look at it... I would think the wrong way, but I guess it's one way.

Am I the only one not impressed by the prospect of a Clegane Bowl? He’s not even that great of a fighter. Brienne beat the shite out of him.

Arya killing the Night King has basically been set up for us since the FIRST EPISODE when they showed her shooting the bow and arrow and refusing to do "girl stuff" looking back I think we should all feel silly for not figuring it out sooner.
the writers even said, "we didnt know who was going to give the death blow until 3 years ago"

well that was a joke, but the series is about John. he is the song of ice and fire. he is Azor Ahai. he is the Prince that was Promised

the show is about him, with a backdrop of dragons and zombies

and he defeated the dead army and the NK, by being the only guy warning the world about them, and getting a force in place.

Even though it was a coalition force, it was still the Army of the North. It was Jon and Dany's army.

This thread is great and need over the multiple other ones, it will totally make people with differing opinions change their mind. Oh yeah, this is the internet and no it won't...

It’s fine that she’s a super badass killer but to say e should have known she would be the one to kill the Night King just bc she didn’t play with dolls is dumb af

She's one of the characters who could.

In-world fighting skills, she's not "a little girl" in combat. It's not like Sansa, Gilly or Dany taking him out. Arya shocked Brienne (a noted swords'man') in their sparring match.

In big-story issue, she's one of the major character lines.
It had to be someone major in order to not be a true mess- we don't need Tormund, Edd, Beric, Jorah etc.
HAS to be from this list: Jon, Dany, Bran, Sansa, ARYA, Theon, or to a lesser effect Tyrion and then Jaime.

Jon gets his chance, but like in every battle, he's a little too late and can't catch up.
Dany gets her chance, but dragonfire doesn't do it.
Bran isn't a fighter, Sansa isn't a fighter.
Theon gets his chance, but misses. But in his redemption, he is clear of mind and purpose, and he doesn't run away.

Tyrion and Jaime are Lannisters, they are meant for Cersei.

Arya got her chance, and hit paydirt.

This is how I see it. Alexander the Great could have been a shite fighter for all we know, but he’s known as a great conqueror and he gets credit for everything the people following him did. That’s how the lore should go here too

Right. I am pretty sure there has been no talk of AA on the show. Sorry folks, not in the TV story.

Except that there is the whole scene where missandei talks about how it could be prince or princess that was promised...

Wouldn't be a big deal except they brought it up. Just don't bring it up to begin with

What I don't like, though, is that the NK was supposed to be a little bit more formidable than that. I mean, they spent 7 seasons building him up as THE bad guy, and he goes down in the first battle. I was a little disappointed by that. Wish the NK was the "final boss" and not Cersei.

More formidable than raising an army of dead people that essentially won if not for Arya at the end? He's dangerous mainly because he can raise the dead.

and reading that again just makes me more mad. they ruined this whole fricking story to try to be witty like Martin. This is so depressing.

Their explanation after the show was pretty stupid. “We felt like Jon couldn’t do everything so (it’s her time).” Oh, I’m sorry you built up Jon to the fulfillment of a prophecy and the rightful heir to the freaking throne. It’s too much to ask that he be a pretty big deal in the biggest battle in over a thousand years.

i agree. Jon was shat on for 5 seasons and now it is too much for him to save the day.

Jon or someone else to BEAT THE NIGHT KING in a sword fight?

That's what I was expecting. Their whole plan was to lure him into the godswood where he would be killed by... Theon?

I was hoping for a "I'm your huckleberry moment" from Jon
