While I wouldn't say respectable actor, I though Tatum's performance in 21 Jump Street was pretty good.
It showed he had a natural knack for comedy and a bit more range then most meat heads who turn to comedy. He surprisingly stole most of the scenes he was in.

By far ahead of everyone else mentioned. I mean the guy literally had to consciously make himself uglier in order for people to take him as a seriously good actor.

Timberlake has become a very good actor.

Honestly, it would be a better list to say people who didn't start purely on looks and developed into respected actors.

I guess you're right. I guess I was just thinking about people who guys hated bc that's all they were, but eventually came around.

no kidding. And even after fight club he was still considered a "pretty boy" by many. I remember reading that this bothered him more than anything.

I actually kind of agree with this. I thought he was absolutely terrible in everything else he has been in. He needs to stick with comedic roles.

Didn't he start with Good Will Hunting? Didn't he write that with Ben? I don't know that he gave himself the role because he's hansom.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is one. From Conan to greatest action hero ever.

Channing tatum for sure. He was basically in movies just because he was good looking for years. Very average actor originally who has gotten pretty solid.
