Took my 6 and 9 year old grandsons, both Minecraft players and I play with them sometimes. The theatre was packed with kid to young adults and parents. They loved the movie. I enjoyed watching them and all the kids have a great time. It was a fun time for all, no crap message, no deep meaning, just fun in the Minecraft world. It’s called entertainment and A Minecraft Movie entertained. Big thumbs up from this old cynic.

There is some good 80s jokes at the beginning so that was nice for us old farts

Took the kids to see it this morning and enjoyed it for what it was. The kids enjoyed it way more. I do love the 80s references and a couple of dad jokes they through in there.

"Is he Finish?"
"No I think he might be Swedish."

Lol

It was insanity, had a Rocky Horror Picture Show feel.

My wife made the same observation. My boys were grinning the whole time and joining in the catch phrases and cheering. Loved watching them have so much fun. I actually loved seeing so many groups of teen boys just hanging out together having a blast. Totally reminded me of my 90s teen years. Felt very fun, healthy and “normal.” I even saw a korn shirt in the mix.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. Kids loved it.

Of course it was never going to work story wise. But it was a fun movie.

I took my 8 yo twins and 18 year old daughter today. (All Minecraft players at some point) I was hoping to take a nap during the movie, but it was insane from start to finish. It was packed and there was clapping and chanting from the crowd…from kids to adults. I was cracking up. My kids really loved it and I laughed at quite a few scenes. Definitely can see the ties to Napoleon Dynamite. It was a fun time….glad we got to spend it with my kids seeing them so excited.

Everyone of my daughter’s friends loved it.

I don’t remember checking rotten tomatoes a kid or giving two shits. This looks fun like Jumanji with the Rock

Not gonna win an Oscar, but an entertaining 2 hours.

We saw the mid-credit scene, but didn't stay until the very end... Apparently they already teased a second film with introducing the Alex to Steve.

They will just print money with a second one.

I took my 9 yr old to watch it. He warned me on the way that it would be constant cheering and noise. I had no clue but at least I knew what to expect. It was actually fun to see the kids acting like kids.

I have a feeling this movie will go viral for kids and I wouldn’t be surprised if this movie makes a fortune.

BTW, was the "sneak preview" for Superman before the movie the same as has been on the internet this week?

glad to see this movie doing well. funny how the critics only gave it 47%, just shows how out of touch they are if less than half of them could enjoy a light-hearted minecraft movie

Pre-internet you had critics and maybe a friend who saw a movie for feedback. Now the “experts” have been rendered useless. I can get thousands of near-meaningless opinions for free on every movie.

Just funny how wide the divide is from the official critics and the audience most of the time

and I think it's bad for the movie industry. If you google Minecraft movie it pops up with a 49% RT rating. doesn't show that verified audience score is 89% unless you click the RT link

Also whats with the IMDB review bombing for this movie? is it all Jack Black controversy related?

If you dont already know, dont worry about it. It was months ago.

Just look at my screenshots on page 2 of this thread to see the permanently offended politards reactions after it. Jack Black was 'blacklisted' anong the "go woke, go broke crowd"
