Amazing what happens when you just make a kid/family friendly movie and market it that way and only that way.
Yeah has nothing at all to do with the fact minecraft is one of the biggest hits of the past 20 years.....
Just make any kid/family friendly movie anx market it that way and you'll make $300 million opening weekend.
I thought Jack Black was blacklisted according to the politards?

You can’t possibly go wrong with g with a kid friendly movie with a big studio behind it.

if you can’t admit that movies that have stupid shite and “messages” which also have huge IPs attached (The Marvels, Snow White, Lightyear, etc) bombed while kids/family movies that had no stupid shite or messaging (Mario, Sonic, Minecraft, Moana 2) are huge hits then we can’t help you.
“the message” hurts box office sales regardless of IP or how good a movie is.

I doubt the kids that went to see Minecraft even know what "the message" is, much less care. It's only politards that try to make it the end all be all of why every movie does well or not.

I sat in Row 2 in the theater. Worst mistake ever.
Back in my day the front rows were never this close to the screen.

Just got out of it, I thought it was really funny and self aware. Not sure why the downvotes on my OP. I said critics are giving poor ratings which probably means it’s good and others disagreed. I’m sure critics hate that the lead wasn’t black or the message wasn’t diagnosing kids with gender dysphoria. No preachy message outside the norm. Message was simple which was basically encouraging somewhat loner kids to embrace their creativity and strengths to get creative.

My kids saw it and loved it. I drank beers and watched baseball. We all had a great time.

Going to see it tomorrow with my 6 year old. Hopefully it has less homosexuality then Sonic 3 had.

Nothing woke about this movie at all and doesn’t waste any time getting into the overworld

My kid loved it along with all the other kids in the theater... Lots of yelling and clapping throughout.
Acting is pretty bad IMO, but we're not talking about a movie thats going for an Oscar here.

What message was behind any of these movies? Also Snow White bombed but has a 73% on the RT audience score. Feels more like you just cherry pick movies to make it sound like you have a point

All 7 kids with us loved it. Actually thought it was pretty entertaining from an adult perspective too. Movie was a ton of silly and innocent fun so I’m not surprised critics hated it.

Like I said above, the two kid actors were terrible... Black was his normal self, Momoa had some fun lines, and the other chick was forgettable.
Based off reactions in the theater, the movie will do very well and exceed expectations $$$ wise

Just got out of it with my 10 year old
He absolutely loved it and I thought it was entertaining enough
I mainly enjoyed watching him enjoy it

Mine too. He clearly enjoyed the crowd experience as much as the movie

Same, we brought our daughter and a friend, it was like a sporting event, tons of crowd participation, theater was 90% teenage boys acting exactly like you think they would, roaring, coming out of their seats, high fiveing, even throwing popcorn buckets in the air. It was insanity, had a Rocky Horror Picture Show feel.
On the way home I told the kids in 50 years the old timers will be in the nursing home yelling Chicken Junky! Or whatever that thing’s s name was, and if they showed the movie there would be dentures flying across the TV room
We had no ideas what was going on, but we enjoyed seeing the kids have fun.
There is some good 80s jokes at the beginning so that was nice for us old farts
