Is it really a blend of a GoT storyline with a plot similar to A Knight’s Tale?

If you watch all of the episodes up to this one, I think you'll be happy you did. It's the perfect place for a mini-binge before the final 2 episodes.
I started it a couple of nights ago and finished Episode 4 last night to catch up. Been enjoying it and now I'm am waiting with lots of anticipation for the rest of the season. Love the relationships Dunk is forming with the other characters.

Man this was a really good episode. You know it’s great when there is no action and the episode still rips

Why do they keep focusing in on the little girl who calls Dunk stupid? Is she supposed to be an important character?

That's Lord Ashford's daughter and the tournament is her 13th birthday party. Lord Ashford is hoping to marry her off to someone good.

Last 10 minutes was really, really good. One of the better scenes in the GOT/HBO universe

Intro scene plus the music really set the tone early. Rewatching it now

Each Novella is about 3-4 hrs. They flew by though as they are highly entertaining and don't drag.

I spent more time looking at family trees to understand who is who, than I did actually reading.

the last 10 minutes of that episode, with the GOT theme bumping, that got the blood flowing.

I have watched the first three episodes kind of lackadaisically, but now Im invested and will likely rewatch them all before the final eps.

I have not read the Hedge Knight books but had heard of Duncan the Tall and Egg in GoT. I was not super excited about this series, but willing to dip my toe in anything Westeros.

That last ten minutes! I audibly gasped twice, causing my kid to come in and start watching with me. Im pretty charged up for the next episode and kind of bent the season is so short.

I'll say this, it's going to take everything in HBO's being not to push the show past the framework of the books. There's plenty of room for a full-length AKOTSK tv series.

Personally, I find these characters much more interesting than HOTD.

yup a lot more characters who are likable or interesting. which is impressive since these episodes are shorter. HOTD was a bit of a whiff in season 2 outside of a couple episodes.

Weren't you the one saying that this was going to be another mediocre GoT show because of early rotten tomatoes scores? :All the while not even reading the actual article you linked that gave it high praise

I actually liked Season 1 of HOTD. Milly Alcock was way better as Rhaenyra than Emma D'Arcy IMO. Season 2 just felt...off.
