What courts need to do in these situations is appoint a guardian ad litem to represent the interests of the child who will garnish child support from the NFL and put the money in a trust for the kid that the baby momma can't touch.
Because child support is calculated by statute and most NFL players have a very short lifespan in the league. So they delay this crap as long as they can and baby momma gets a windfall for a few years which she blows entirely on herself and five years down the road everybody is right back to where they started.
