Reckon that whiny little Spieth will get heckled with those words by drunks in the gallery every time he hits a lousy shot?

I think so.

Or at least I hope so.

The punk hit a couple of shots that wound up in trouble and audibly blamed his caddie, publically humiliating him.

Very, very, very bad form in my book.

The player is ultimately responsible for the outcome.

Do you think a sportsman like Nicklaus would have publically humiliated his caddie back in the day?

Well on the 8th yesterday, based on comments, caddie gave him wrong yardages/clubs. Not that big of a deal

Speith and Greller have always been very chatty on the course.

You’re being a little overreactive here. It’s not like he called him a piece of shite on air or anything

I was actually read a story the other day from anonymous ( I know) tour sources, players, caddies, etc. that Speith would probably suffer quite a bit if he didn’t have a caddy.

He relies on Greller a lot for on course info/management

After hitting a shot over the green Spieth said he hit perfect shots back to back and his caddie gave him the wrong club. He said it to his caddie while walking away from him and grimacing.

Some have taken this as the biggest offense ever and ran with it.

This a real take?!?!?

It’s not like he held a press conference and blamed the guy. He got picked up on a mic. You have no clue what Jack was saying.

Also Spieth and his caddie talk A LOT during and right after shots, he clearly uses his caddie quite a bit and they seem like a team out there.

Basically your take is bad and you should feel bad

If you have a link, I'd be interested in reading it.

I volunteered at a Nationwide tour event years back and got roped into caddying for one of the golfers. Which was basically me just carrying this dude's bag because I don't know shite about golf. One of the other golfers in our group was conferring with his caddy about what club to use. His caddy told him to use a seven iron because the eight would put him in the sandtrap. The golfer disagreed and selected the eight. And then got pissy when he buried it in the sand. It took a little restraint to not let out a laugh and a "he told you so, dummy."

@1242,

Basically, where I'm coming from is over your head. (and I'm being charitable)

A sportsman doesn't publically humiliate his helper over the outcome of a shot. Things like that are discussed after the round and in private.

Spieth raised a lot of eyebrows all over the world with his childish behavior.

You'll struggle to find many people with your same view of Jordan Spieth. He's a well respected kid who has always treated his caddy well. Yesterday at 8 is probably the first time Spieth has ever come close to criticizing his caddie. Everything else is just normal Jordan banter

I’m sorry, but pro golfers openly berating their caddies during tournaments is actually extremely common and I would bet most players have done it to even their most respected caddies at some point. It is literally their place of work, and emotion typically pours out during majors.

Common saying is that if it is left or right, it’s the golfer’s fault, but if it is short or long, it’s the caddie’s fault.

Spieth and Greller seem to have a great relationship, and Jordan is pretty much the only golfer who uses “we” and “us” when talking about his round.

I don’t know when it suddenly became so cool to hate on Spieth (I guess after Masters 2016?) but it just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s not like he is Reed or Poulter.

You're making shite up.

He was talking to his caddy and it got picked up on a mic. And no, you wouldn't have heard that watching Arnie or Jack or Byron Nelson back in the day, because cameras and hi def mics didn't follow them around after the shot trying to get a reaction.

This take comes across as a spoiled douchebag golf fan take. Which is kind of redundant, I know.

Lol give me a break here. The punk? Speith is extremely well respected and almost unanimously considered a great guy and sportsman. He’s definitely one of the better ‘sportsman’ in the game right now.

No one is perfect. I’m sure even Nicklaus got pissed a couple of times.

If a bear shits in the woods and no one sees it did it happen? Because the amount of coverage those old guys got compared to someone like Speith and Tiger is completely different.
