I’ll start by saying fans of those teams shouldn’t give a shite. Win and that’s all that matters. Baseball overall is regional sport, but certain teams can still bring in national eyeballs( Sox, Cubs, yanks, Dodgers, etc)

But of all the matchups, two southern teams seem like a nightmare scenario from a ratings perspective right?

***Game 1 update****

Game 1 was the 2nd least watched World Series ever with 10.5 million viewers, 2nd only to last years covid season

Lower than last year's lowest ever ratings?
Possibly, but it has nothing to do with the teams playing in it.

Just throw los in front of Astros or braves and you have the entire Latino market.

It would be the most intriguing matchup by far for me.

If MLB did a better job promoting itself and especially its stars instead of certain teams, a great matchup like ATL-HOU wouldn't be an issue.

I don't think it would be that terrible. I'm sure the best ratings matchup is Red Sox-Dodgers, and it's probably the sexiest too

I do think Braves-Red Sox would have a lot of appeal. Braves-Astros would be fun, it just seems less exotic considering it's a playoff matchup we've seen over the decades and there is probably some Astros fatigue.

Shame on the MLB for not promoting the two biggest teams in the region that plays the most baseball

I doubt it. The Braves have a massive fanbase considering pretty much all of the southeast sans Florida is in their pocket, plus Atlanta hasn’t been to a World Series in 22 years.

Houston is a huge market with a pretty big fanbase as well. Also they are probably the most disliked team in baseball along with the Dodgers so I would guess there would be a lot interest in this potential series.

I’m sure baseball writers on both coasts will be bitching about it tho

Im talking relative to other years

I fully expect those two teams to advance, so we will see the numbers they draw. I expect it to be the lowest in the Neilson era besides last years covid year where all sports set records

Covid year proved to be an outlier for all sports. I wouldn’t really compare anything to that
