Be nice if ESPN and Disney didn't hate this Country but team USA apparently has too many players who don't fit their demo just like their lukewarm Hockey team coverage.
Why lead headline with: Team USA advances on controversial strike three
Didn't see it so was expecting the ball to be in the dirt, Bob Uecker way outside or over the batters head...something egregious.
Then you watch the replay... This is headline controversial? A ball a little low right down the middle? Geez...cue riots in Miami.

DR still with zero SEC championships.

Just a prime example of coaches always tellin their players to not put the game in the hands of the umpires. Good or bad call, someone is losing from it. Don’t put yourself in that position of chance.
DR had multiple chances to make something of their game. Came up short. Eso beisbol.
For the purist baseball fans, that was a fun game with US fans getting the icing on top.
For modern day fans, well, just try not to let the last call distract from still a great game to watch, but I understand it put a stain on it.

That’s fricking unbelievable. You’d never see that headline if it was SGA or LeBron drawing a bullshite foul to ice a game. Or a missed holding call on a last second Mahomes TD. I thought refs and umps were supposed to be without criticism? Players and coaches get fined for even thinking about mentioning a call. That ump called a perfect game all night and the “dominant” DR lineup we heard about all week managed 1 run in 27 outs but they lost because of one low strike call at the end? Get fricked espn. Red white and blue gonna hang another banner Tuesday night and the Disney tears are gonna be so sweet.

Why do so many Americans hate America? Time to round these fricks up and deal with them.

NGL, that was a pretty sweet arse game.
As a kid and young adult I watched sports religiously. I’ve lost some interest over the years, and this was the first WBC game I’ve watched this year, all that to say, that was some quality baseball right there.

A tough call to end the game.
Maybe, but this overrides a pitch that should have been swung at anyway

Ump called a great game.
He called that pitch several times last night a strike.
Great game.

He was also giving the low strike all game to both teams.
The headline should be how remarkable it is to hold that lineup to 1 run. I didn’t think there was any way US would win without scoring again.

It also wasn't AS low as the dumb fox graphic. Low is low but that graphic made it seem egregious. And like others have said, it was a strike all night.

ESPN home page is straight up calling it a blown call and the article about it treats it as 100% fact

That’s a lot of stranded runners. Also, after Judge threw out Tatis at third they quit being aggressive and were holding guys up that could’ve advanced or possibly scored. I get it, that lineup is supposed to deliver but gotta give credit to Skenes and the pitching staff. Pretty clean overall defensively minus the bobbled exchange at 2nd.

This isn't 12u baseball. These are the best baseball players in the world. They know what a strike is and what isn't, and that wasn't a strike, and it was a good take.
These umpires behind the plate have had a little league strike zone for much of this tournament for some reason. The only positive is they've been shitty for everyone, so you can't claim it's unfair or bias.
That being said, oh well. Suck it DR.
U-S-A!!!!

Where the catcher caught the ball was low, but was it low when it crossed the plate? It is not where the catcher catches a ball that determines balls or strikes, but where it crosses the plate. That pitch could well have been a strike when it crossed the plate.

There are side angles. It's still low but it's not as low as the graphic leads you to believe. Gotta protect with 2 strikes and he had a low zone all evening.

I thought it was a great pitch. In real time, it looked like a strike. Perdomo was headed to the dugout as soon as he took. He knew!

People always remember the last blown call. But, how many USA batters were screwed on low strike calls that everyone is conveniently forgetting?

There were several bad calls in the top of the 9th alone. Who knows, maybe if called correctly the US adds insurance runs. Never know.

I’m starting to doubt whether ABS is worth a shite or not
This ball crossed at the strike zone but it looks like ABS measures where it is past the plate
