There's gonna be a bloodbath at some point. They couldn't afford their current business model even before the virus. I bet Mike Greenberg is shitting himself.
I can see ESPN just having a couple live sportscenters a day then replaying them over and over in between 30 for 30 reruns.

Lol at these dorks knighting for ESPN
I dont even really watch ESPN outside of games.
It's the perfect storm for Clay Travis to frame this tanking as political, just like he did with the athletic last week, when its pretty obvious its because there are no sports going on. You're the dork for eating that up

It is pretty amazing how these same people continue to act like ESPN going all political propaganda doesn't have a negative affect on the network.
Who's saying that?
What people are saying is that no sports right now is the primary reason why a sports network has suffered historically low ratings recently. Why are people pushing back on that?

So you are saying their decline in ratings which has been well documented for years at this point has nothing to do with them going towards activist levels of "sports" political commentary?
It is hard to believe someone would ignore that as one of the main causes of the dismal ratings.

This. It's a show based on sports highlights, which currently don't exist.
I'm surprised they're still attempting it. They might as well style it on public access and let the hosts take call ins.

No one's saying that. You're creating a strawman.
But how are you going to gloss over the fact that we've been without sports for 3 months now? That's the main reason for their current state.

a slow decline in rankings has been apparent
and you think all of a sudden it is sharp like this because of politics? And not because there are no sports going on? lmao.
please explain the Last Dance doc. The most watched ESPN documentary of all time. People want sports.

False. There have been many posters on this board that mock people for calling out ESPN's move to politics over the years.

Absolutely a cause.

The ratings have been trash long before this which oddly coincided with them going Political a few years ago. Weird.

I haven't watched ESPN since the Jordan docs ended, and I'm avoiding it like the plague with all of the bullshite going on around the country right now

Agreed. People want sports. Sports docs like that are usually free of political lecturing.

No doubt but no one can tell me they aren't hurting themselves worse by pushing politics over sports. It really takes some serious blinders to not see that.

They don't have sports to push.
Hell, this board has been mostly politics lately. Politics has filled the gap left by sports in a lot of ways.
It's a daily show based in sports highlights and there haven't been sports highlights in 3 months.

Jay Leno’s Garage on CNBC outrated every studio program on ESPN.

Jay Leno's. Garage. This is ESPN we're addressing not freaking Teletubbies, the amount of people here knighting for Wokecenter absolutely blows my fricking mind, it's surreal, the same people who argue LeBron's better Kobe when that clearly is not the case.

This all ties into the bigger argument that sports need to resume FAST because we ain't gonna watch if they keep peddling this political shite, there's a reason news networks exist and a clear difference between a news network and sports network

Wow, who figured that a sports show would crash without sports to highlight.
Wasn't happening until recently when all the sports figures decided to go politico in the wake of George Floyd, I'm incredibly confident there's a correlation there

Yes I'm sure their lowest ratings total of all time, the lowest during this entire pandemic, has nothing at all to do with them going full WokeCenter the past 2 weeks.
Nothing at all!
Nothing at all!

Clay Travis making a bad faith argument with faulty logic and selective omissions so he can push a political narrative while pretending to be mad over political narratives made on a network he'd give his left nut to work for?
