Do you think people are like googling “hawks-jazz highlights 3.26.20” or something?

Durr the person I was replying to said that, not me

I totally disagree.
I was born in 81. I'm a Steeler fan, and I'd rather directly access my team's highlights than wait through highlights of the Jags/Bucs battling for North Florida supremacy.
Heck, I remember how pissed I'd be pre-internet. When you missed your team's highlights because you had to pee, you'd literally have to wait for a rerun and hope you bladder was timed right.
Plus, they only ran top 25 CFB and CBB highlights. Meaning, you were SOL if your team wasn't top 25 or playing a top 25 opponent.
You couldn't pay me to go back to those days. I have a job, family and hobbies. I have better things to do than watch an hour program for maybe 5-8 min of stuff I actually care about.

Don't you fret, the network will still triple down on social justice despite their tanking.

You misunderstood my point.
People aren’t searching for highlights, nor are they wanting a TV program to show them the high lights
Social media organically shows them the highlights they care to see.

Invariably Rep520’s the ringleader for all this bullshite by denying clear evidence, not surprisingly he’s a huge LeBron Stan with all this “evidence” he uses to argue he’s better than Kobe

Aw, I'm honored I've made ringleader status.
I would also be fully happy to submit our respective intellects to any objective panel on the fact I think LeBron>Kobe and you think Kobe>LeBron. I have no worries that comparison would look bad for me.

That hasn't been the case in my experience, but I'm an information addict who would like to see highlights from the Big Ten, PAC, etc. so take it with a grain of salt.

That demo is no longer catered to.

I don't even use social media, and it's easy enough. YouTube has great highlight channels. Some of them get updated like 5 minutes after each quarter, so you can keep almost live tabs on games.
Failing that, you can get actual SC highlight packages on ESPN.com for games. I don't think I've watched more than 5 min of SportsCenter in probably 10 years.

OK CLEARLY you have struggles with reading comprehension or straw men arguments (maybe both) so I'm gonna have to spell this out for you like you're a 5 year old citing directly from the article
Nick Cannon Wild and Out 15
Craig of the Creek
way more viewers than ESPN's top show
#JLG
RACE HUB
EXACTLY
The overall point
This is not a hard concept to comprehend or understand, sports needs to start again, without sports, no one will watch and they definitely won't watch if these networks continue to peddle political garbage, Occam's Razor
Jay
Leno's
Garage
ETA: moreover stop with the BS about Travis describing those numbers as the lowest he's ever seen as if that's a effective way to nitpick, reading his statements in context he obviously means from his research of the ratings and it probably holds up as a valid point under scrutiny. the MSB likes to give Travis a ton of shite but he's more often than not factually and logically correct on things so it isn't something I'm gonna fight.

On Wednesday ESPN’s studio programming, which has become MSESPN’s WokeCenter on steroids 24/7, hit a 41 year ratings low. That is, in the entire history of the network existing, it has never had lower overall studio ratings than it did this week.
quote:
“First Take” was the highest rated ESPN studio show all day, posting just 211,000 viewers. That was the 93rd highest rated program on all of cable.
quote:
Putting those numbers into context compared to other shows airing the same day on cable: “Nick Cannon Wild and Out 15” on VH1 had 50% more viewers than ESPN’s top show. “Smuggler: Secret Stash” on National Geographic doubled First Take. Not to be outdone, “Craig of the Creek” on the Cartoon Network posted 200,000 more viewers.

Hell, even “Jay Leno’s Garage” on CNBC soundly defeated First Take.
Jay. Leno’s. Garage.

Because all of ESPN’s studio programming has hit all time lows over the past two weeks.
Highly Questionable had just 151,000 viewers last week, the lowest I’ve ever seen.
Around the Horn had just 175,000 viewers, again, the lowest I have ever seen.
Jalen and Jacoby, airing in the middle of the day, had only 122k viewers last Wednesday on ESPN. I’ve never seen ESPN flirt with having fewer than 100,000 live viewers for a program in the middle of the day and they are doing it regularly now. (Heck, they may have done it already since we don’t get all the day part ratings at the above linked site).
Yes, it’s no surprise that ratings have been down across the board for sports programming without sports. But not like this. Not even close. Heck, on Wednesday FS1’s Race Hub was the highest rated sports studio show by a massive amount, posting 324,000 viewers. Race Hub has never crushed ESPN programming like this before.
RACE HUB
quote:
Yes, sports is down, but ESPN is tanking at a level unseen in the history of the network. And unseen compared to other sports networks.
EXACTLY
quote:
Why does all this matter?
The overall point
quote:
Because it’s an ominous sign for sports ratings to be tanking as sports prepare to return to play. There are many serious things going on in our country right now and the vast majority of sports fans know where to find news about serious things going on in the world. That’s why cable news ratings have skyrocketed. But sports fans don’t want their sports commentators to be weighing in on non-sports news on sports networks.
The ratings are clear about that. And the ratings are clear that sports fans just want to watch games as well. Twitter gets happy when athletes and sports commentators weigh in on non-sports topics, but Twitter, as always, isn’t the real world. It’s a distorted funhouse mirror carnival version of the real world. The data is clear: sports fans want sports.

No, I have an issue with him claiming it's the lowest rating in 41 years and providing no proof and/or even a single citation that should make me think he pulled that from somewhere other than his arse.

This part actually completely works against your thesis. Race Hub did well because it was before a live NASCAR event on FS1. That is my entire point, lack of live sports is hammering ESPN, and they'd get a massive bump from live sports.
Pointing out FS1's studio show got a bump from association with live sports helps me.
Most of all, you're just bolding parts of his article where he throws numbers with no context.
On Monday, June 8, 2020, First Take had a 0.10 rating.
Before George Floyd and Travis's Wokecenter, on May 13, 2020, First Take had a 0.10 rating in the same time slot.
So literally the same rating before and after the decline Travis alleges.

Exactly. I don't watch sports channels for political bullshite. I watch sports channels to get away from that. I turned off the NFL Network a few times this last week when they started in on the political bullshite. I haven't watched anything but games and 30 for 30's on ESPN for about 6-7 years now. I don't even watch Monday Night Countdown anymore. Frick that liberal shite channel.

Yes he has an agenda: common sense, he wants sports networks TO ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT SPORTS AND NOT POLITICS, this is not a disagreeable thing and the ratings establish that
Posted on 6/12/20 at 7:21 pm to dragonNRG45
Good news.
Hopefully everyone at ESPN loses their jobs and is destroyed for life because of it.
Bunch of scumbags

I drive into New Orleans about once a week and catch the morning show he is on.. for maybe 30 minutes. Clay Travis absolutely talks politics
He’s a gotcha sports media personality. That’s his schtick

I gave you actual proof ESPN had equally low ratings prior to Floyd's death in contradiction to what Travis claims.

If you and he did that without ignoring facts, I would have no issue. I don't at all mind the perspective that ESPN should be centered on sports. It's obviously harder during Covid, but there's nothing weird about that.
You can make that case without basing it in overheated BS, though. Saying First Take's 0.10 rating suffered for the Floyd related politics...First Take got the same 0.10 rating on May 13, well before Floyd died. The argument is better when it's accurate.
