Genetics is what drives the supply and demand for the game. There is nothing the WNBA could ever do from a business standpoint to make the game as popular as the NBA game.

They could change the court dimensions/rim height to make the gameplay more similar to the men's game.

Wouldn't be as popular, but it'd be a start.

I don't think "arbitrary" was the word you wanted.

This type of argument always cracks me up when it is brought up. It's a stupid argument that even recently was made about grand slam winnings.

I forgot who it was, but it was hilarious to see a female tennis player bitching about the Grand Slam purses for men vs women as if their games are equal. Men play best of 5 sets, while women play best of 3. That means at best women play 67% of the actual amount of games the men play in a tournament, yet want to be paid the same.

Same thing in the NBA, play less than half the games the men play, and expect the same pay?

I have a daughter, and I will teach her the truth that you are always worth as much as you bring back to your company. No more, no less.

If you bring more total to your company, not percentage-wise, then you deserve more. If you bring less, you'll get less. This works across the board and generally works that way between men in business too.

In the end, complaining about Wage gaps is ridiculous.

NBA produce $5.9 Billion in revenue as a leauge last year.

WNBA brought in $25 million as another poster noted.

If you want the same percentages, the average revenue per team is:

NBA = $197 Million
WNBA = $2.1 Million

The women bring in literally 1% of the revenue that the men do and play less than half the games the men do.

So based on the average NBA Salary being $6.2 million/year, that means, the average WNBA salary should be $66k/year. Instead their actual salary is almost $72k/year. That means that are overpaid by nearly 10%.

NBA players should be losing their shite with regards to this injustice of being paid less than their female equivalents based on production.

If she wants to increase the max salary, the others will gladly I'm sure take less for that to happen, right?

There's no rule that I know of that states you have to be a male to play in the NBA.

If you're good enough to play in the NBA, you get paid for it. She could always try out for a team

The answer for Ms. Wilson is simple -- if you don't like the pay in the WNBA then make an NBA team.

They don’t generate any revenue. They aren’t entitled to anything. They’re lucky they get enough to keep that league afloat.
