Why would Navy fire Ken Niumatalolo?

I haven’t dug to see what the causes might be, but he seems like about as good as it could ever get?

It reminds me of David Shaw. Once untouchable but had fallen off and the game with NIL and modern offenses had passed him by.

Modern offenses in the service academies won’t exist

How does the transfer portal work for them (both in and out)?
Posted on 12/11/22 at 3:24 pm to KosmoCramer
Players could transfer out pretty easily but it’s going to be next to impossible for them to take someone transferring in.
Even for normal transfer students, you have to go to one of the academies for four years.

Do players transferring out have to pay back tuition for the years they attended?

Yes if after year 2

No one transfers in or out. The committee t to one of these universities is post graduate military service. It’s not the NFL. When you sign up at this university, you’ve made a commitment to Uncle Sam

Most academy players are there for the service, not the football. Doubt you have that many transfers out.

You can transfer out of a service academy without penalty before your junior year. I know a few different people that have transferred out of USNA.

you cant just " get in" to a Service Academy

It doesn’t. In order to attend a service academy you have to be nominated by your congressman and then approved by Congress.

I don't think they would transfer "in" since they would still have to go to the academy for 4 years.
They can transfer out before junior year without having to pay back anything.

He coached there for 15 seasons and has the most career wins in Navy football history. Maybe it was just time to hang it up?

Yeah that Army offense is the future. Navy had no answer for it. Could only hold Army to 30 yards of offense.

Navy had a good thing going for about 15 years. They were winning eight or nine games a year, and would occasionally finish a season with a top 25 ranking and 10+ wins.
They have really dropped off the last few years. I think people were hoping the fall off was temporary, but it’s been six or seven years of mostly bad football and a lot of losses.
