They’ve been really bad four out of the past five years. Seems like it was just time to make a change.

A friend of mine is close with a couple of people in positions of power at the Navy athletic department, and apparently Coach Ken banned the players from both playing The Village People as pre game music and snapping each other's asses with towels. He lost the locker room shortly thereafter and a change had to be made.

I bet it was pretty amicable and he's so well respected. He will never have trouble finding work.

I’m pretty sure NIL is a non-factor with the service academies

Neither those apply to service academies.

I knew a kid who ran track for OU for a year and then got recruited to USNA. You just start over academically

Seems like a pretty tough sell to just run track for navy

So out of curiosity because I’ve never dug into but why can’t army or navy find a QB that can throw and run a more pro style offense?

They probably could but against most teams their offensive line wouldn't be able to hold up

Because he's 2-5 in his last 7 vs Army and 2-5 in his last 7 vs Air Force.

Routinely losing CiC games is just about the only fast way for a service academy coach to end up on the hot seat.

I wonder how NIL is affecting players at their prep schools. Navy used to send a good number of kids to their prep school but they don’t have a commitment to attend the Academy.

Pretty sure that’s not the case? I have a good friend that went to the academy and started at the prep school for football and pretty sure he was full academy. Maybe not.

The problem with the academies is you can still go rotc and be an officer. So to go to the academy you have to basically be full in 0% chance of pro ball. Anywhere else you could do rotc or commit later to the military and not be 100% as a HS senior.

This is 100 percent untrue. People do transfer out.

I’m a little surprised but he hasn’t been able to bring in enough of those top notch option athletes needed and isn’t as creative as Monken for example…

Figured he’d be there for pretty much as long as he wanted with his overall success even with the recent struggles

What kind of contract do those service academy coaches have? I mean why not just have him resign? Is he better off being fired I’m assuming from a financial standpoint?
