Bc he had to change his routine. He use to walk all the way back to half court between each one. Not you have to stay at the line. Also there is a time limit now.

I think it corresponded with KD leaving and his usage changing more, but I haven't looked at the stats in a while.

I only know this from a fantasy perspective b/c his value hurt a bit once the FT issue started

I should have had Durant, Harden, and Westbrook but the terror of that thought killed the original TDBBL

In 2017 they made the rule change that you can’t leave the line after the first one.

He was 85% the year before and since then

It's no revelation that Kidd was a better point guard than Russ. That's not what we are arguing here. This is strictly on Westbrook's merits as it pertains to the HOF.

Issue with Kidd is that his teams only finished top 10 in Offensive Rating five times in his career with three of those top 10 offensive rating seasons happening with prime Dirk as his teammate. It would be like a QB who played 20 seasons in the NFL leading his team to a top 10 offense only five times in his career. Yeah, his teammates might have been garbage and his coaching might not have been the greatest but an elite QB shouldn't have any problems leading his team to a top 10 offense regardless of the situation more often than not. Same with a great PG in the NBA.

There aren't many players that are a Top 10 offense by themselves alone. Lebron, Steph, Harden, and KD are at the top of the list in today's game that are an offense in and of themselves alone.

That's fine and all to cherry pick a stat like top 10 offense, but Kidd was able to be the best player on a tram that made the finals. Russ can't say the same.

His impact on the game is nowhere near Magic, Lebron, Big O , etc....despite his numbers & questionable bball iq.

Well, yea. You don't have to be a top 5 player of all time in order to make the HOF.

Isn't really that hot of a take. Most considered Kidd to be a top 5 pg of all time. He's not exactly some scrub.

Right. You don’t need to win multiple rings and multiple MVPs to get in. Because there are so many guys who were great who didn’t do that.

google is your friends. Multiple articles written about it in regards to Westbrook and his routine.

The drop-off has little to do with mechanics, but rather a subtle rule change put in by the NBA before the start of last season. In an effort to crack down on time-wasting at the free throw line, players were barred from walking beyond the 3-point line between attempts. Westbrook’s routine, one he had used since he was 8 years old, was to shoot one, walk back to almost half court, gather himself, turn around, walk back, then shoot the second. Westbrook acknowledged his offensive tribulations after the Dallas loss,

Nothing to do with whether he is a hall or famer but I will give him this - Westbrook is one of the most impressive athletes I’ve seen live. Guy just looks and moves differently than the other guys on the court.

First time I saw him play I walked away thinking he’s the best WR alive.

Total scrubs are first ballot hall of famers for this hall of fame, not rocket science

Somewhere along the road, the Basketball and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame decided their credibility didn't matter. It's a joke.

I find it weird that ELP and King Crimson are not inducted yet, without them Rush, Yes, Genesis, 70s Pink Floyd, Houses of the Holy/Physical Graffiti Led Zeppelin, Quadrophenia Who, etc. wouldn't be what they were. Hell, I think Jimi Hendrix had plans to record with ELP (and call the supergroup HELP) and dabble in jazz fusion before he died. If that isn't the closing argument for ELP's induction, then I don't know what is.

The current version of Russ isn’t a HoFer but he was once a top dog in the league. Him getting the MVP and getting his squad back to the playoffs with a respectable seeding right after Durant left cemented his HoF status. Throw in his triple doubles too and he’s a lock.

I thought what James Harden did with the Rockets that season was more remarkable and his team beat the Thunder in the playoffs with him outclassing Westbrook in every way.

Dick Bavetta, who won more games than any referee in NBA history, was inducted in 2015.

Just like with Jason Kidd, it's not a hot take to say Harden is better than Westbrook

The average number of players inducted per year is almost the exact same for baseball and basketball. It seems like it’s easier in basketball because the NBA has far fewer players than the NFL or MLB.
