When have they ever had a successful athletic team in the FBS level?

They had one good season when they beat Arkansas and played in a bowl game. I think that’s the only bowl they have ever been do.

ULM has accomplished literally nothing since they moved up from 1AA

Seems like with the lack of a commitment from the administration and booster they've been FCS since Viator arrived. Nothing about their athletic department screams D1.

They would still play P5 schools in FCS

True but they need the ESPN tv money for sunbelt conference games.

ULM would instantly be the best program in the SLC and could bring back the NLU fan base.
this ULM team we seen this year would struggle in any conference in any division

The women’s basketball team was often an AP top 10 team in the 1980s.

quote:

FRISCO, Texas -- The Southland Conference announced the 1980s All-Decade Women's Basketball Team on Tuesday and ULM placed five Warhawks on the team including Player of the Decade, Eun Jung Lee (Eun Jung Ok) and Coach of the Year, Linda Harper. Lisa Ingram, Derunzia "Jab" Johnson, Chana Perry and Veronica Ridgell round out the ULM portion of the team.

The 80s were an incredible time for basketball in Northeast Louisiana, and ULM made the Final Four in 1984-85 before falling to eventual national champion, Old Dominion, finishing with a 30-2 record and a No. 2 final Associated Press ranking.

for some reason the past couple administrations have alienated locals from wanting to support the athletic department.

Cajuns fans know a whole lot about that from the 80’s and 90s. Quite a few money people in Lafayette who initially wanted an RCAF in the 80’s said screw it and opted to support LSU since their administration actually cared about sports.

Isn’t the money different if you’re a FCS vs FBS team for those games?

It's a massive difference. G5s can get as much as $1.5m for traveling to a P5. FCS schools might get $300k.

They should merge with TECH and become a satellite campus for classes only, abandon all sports unless played in Ruston.

Well, I can’t flip you off from my phone, but that’s what every question mark represents. Idiot!

If ULM can get the community back behind the teams it would do wonders. There’s money in Monroe, but for some reason the past couple administrations have alienated locals from wanting to support the athletic department.

People turn out when ULM wins.

Not an accurate description of what happened to I-AA.

This is the only logical answer. Stop being so emotional!!!
ULM is dying, only a couple redeemable programs anyway. Pharmacy schools are a dime a dozen now.

You seem to be a pretty unhinged dude when it comes to opinions about other state schools. No one should take your thoughts seriously.

The heavy hitter money in Monroe is all about LSU rounded out by Tech and surprisingly Ole Miss. I honestly could not tell you one of my buddies in Monroe that has a kid at ULM or that went to ULM. I guess the majority of ULM students come from outside 71201 which probably means those students that left small town LA either take those degrees and move back home or move to Dallas/H-town because they sure as hell don’t move the needle in Monroe. However that would probably change drastically if they would start winning. Nobody wants to rally behind a loser with no plan to be anything but a loser.
