Why doesn’t ULM move down to FCS?

Seriously they’d be much better off in the FCS. When have they ever had a successful athletic team in the FBS level? They seem to struggle with their budget and moving down to D1 FCS would be good for them.

The revenue loss would be brutal.

Fwiw I wish we would if even temporary so we could be more competitive and get our shite together. But it is what it is.

But would it really be that big of a loss? You’d still get a P5 money game. Bus to UCA, Northwestern St, Grambling, McNeese, SLU, Nicholls, Lamar, Southern.

ULM would instantly be the best program in the SLC and could bring back the NLU fan base.

They should merge with TECH and become a satellite campus for classes only, abandon all sports unless played in Ruston.

I don’t think you guys realize the potential ULM us to be a really good school with an admin that doesn’t have its head buried up it’s arse. I think dr. Bruno started getting the boat in the right direction in terms of getting academics together but he neglected the alumni base and athletics too much. I think dr. Berry can get those groups back together while keeping the forward momentum on academics.

I understand as an alumni I have an attachment that is definitely doing some of the speaking for me but there really is a lot of great things going on up there that validate the university’s status (Just as tech and I’m sure just about every other school in the state do as well).

Well that’s another conversation but the way things are structured with the pharmacy school, this will not happen. That sealed their fate basically.

People were saying that about The Cajuns just a few years ago.

Tulane has considered it a few times.

They’ll probably be the first in-State school to do it.

Bull shite. After LSU there’s only 2 teams that should even be FBS and it’s UL and Tech. The rest can either go FCS or even lower than that.

If ULM can get the community back behind the teams it would do wonders. There’s money in Monroe, but for some reason the past couple administrations have alienated locals from wanting to support the athletic department. Also it doesn’t help that their AD has zero experience running a program and was a frickin banker before becoming AD.

Lol...wut???
Exactly how would it be a revenue LOSS?!! There were literally DOZENS of fans in stands @ Malone pre-Covid. Being in a bus conference would help

Ticket sales don’t really matter when it comes to revenue for some smaller schools. It’s all about tv $ and the profit from playing power 5 schools. ULM could go 0-10 for the next 5 years and not drop down to FCS.
