Playing the race card as a reason to hate Tiger is ridiculous. Have you never seen a PGA tourney on tv or in person? Look at the gallery going nuts for him. I bet, on typical Sat/Sunday rounds, you will find few, if any, blacks cheering him on. It's an all white crowd, for the most part an all mid to upper class white crowd pulling for him. The hate goes a long ways past race; as noted, there are more than a few valid, non racial reasons to hate him. Take a poll at your next tourney of the marshalls & grounds keepers. Most of the regulars have stories and stories of how poorly Tiger treated them, what an absolute prick of a human being he is.

The most arrogant dudes I grew up with were the ones that were good golfers.

I get why some people hate him. What Bothers me is when they act like he is the only one who cusses, throws clubs, cheats on wife, etc.

Tiger brought golf to another level.. I could care less what he did in his personal life.
Greatest of all time IMO. Glad I'm able to witness it.

What I have gathered from this thread, is that people hate him for his father, his smoking hot ex-wife, and his money...nothing about his game or lack-there-of sometimes!

You also have to love how the #2 golfer in the world, winner of 5 of his last 19 isn't good enough to win a major........ and most amazing of all "slightly above average"

Yeah, if we could I.D. all of the PGA players past/present who got some on the side, we'd be watching Hooters guys and Nationwide guys on Sundays.

I've never really had a problem with Tiger although I did lose a little respect for him after the scandal. I have a co-worker who can't stand him though. It has more to do with his grumpy attitude on the course and what my co-worker perceives as extreme arrogance and a failure to appreciate his fans and the fact that his fans contribute to the mega riches he has earned. I don't think it has anything at all to do with race in my co-worker's case as he is a very liberal person politically.

That is a complaint of a friend of mine. Early on in his career he noted how unfriendly Tiger was with people pestering him for autographs etc.
I can see both sides of that one though. It would be great if a player had the maturity and patience to sign a lot of autographs and treat people nicely when he met them... but it would be very hard to live up to that if you were the one losing your privacy.
