Switzer. There were times they couldn’t find him and he would be on the bench eating a hotdog. He just rode out what Jimmy J started

I mean, Billick won a SB with Trent Dilfer and managed to go 80-64 while basically never having a decent QB. Tony Banks, Kyle Boller, Dilfer, Anthony Wright, Stoney Case, Chris Redman, Jeff Blake, Elvis Grbac, and the sad remains of Steve McNair are all he had the work with.

Billick wasn't a terrible coach at all. Switzer is the answer and it's not even close. He was an incompetent boob at OU and Dallas. He ran a cheating. renegade program at OU and didn't give a shite. That guy was always a cartoon character.

Barry Switzer... I love Barry BTW.

He just rode the wave.

I love him for getting us to the promised land, but Doug Pederson. The year we won the Bowl, was probably one of the best seasons I've seen the Eagles play. 2004 was the best, 13-3 and a Bowl loss to the cheating Pats.

After Bowl, the wheels fell off and I wondered how the hell he even won the big game.

Disagree. He's the only coach to ever make the Texans consistently competitive and even good at times. Plus he pushed all the right buttons the entire season the Broncos won the Super Bowl. Hell he even found a way to go 9-7 the following year with Trevor freaking Siemien at QB.

Edit: He also has 3 rings as an OC. 2 with Denver and 1 with Baltimore.

The myth is becoming fact.

The ONLY time that happened was when in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl in the 2nd half, but now people think it happened regularly. It is just absurd.

Also Barry did not "just ride the wave" People forget that that Cowboy team was in transition. They did separate things and was in middle of a roster flip. I was working for the Cowboys then.

Super Bowl V was decided by a last minute field goal.

Idiots saying Sean Payton. I think he's overrated as a HC, but he's still above average.

That's not the legendary 49ers vs Chargers, or the thrilling Giants vs Ravens. Or either of the Bills-Cowboys nail biters.

It has to be Switzer. Obviously a great college coach, recruiter and motivator but was coasting with the Cowboys. Somehow he held the asylum together for a SB win but that was probably more Aikman.

Super Bowl V was a sloppy game, lots of turnovers on both sides.

The Cowboys were really the better team that day, but both teams were sloppy. The Colts got one TD on a fluky deflected pass that went about 75 yards.

The highlight was Bob Lilly of Dallas throwing his helmet about 40 yards after that last second Colt FG.

Don McCafferty basically rode Shula's coattails to a Super Bowl with the Colts, and got worse very year. He died at an early age.

He became coach of the Lions in 1973 and finished one season, then

I guess he was destined to be stricken doing something, but the idea of an NFL coach cutting their own grass is humorous to me for some reason...times were different in 1974 for sure.

Ditka had all the talent in the world to win multiple SB's but you can only fit so much ego in a locker room before the walls collapse. You could see it happening before it actually did.
Switzer is a close second.

Switzer comes to mind. Jerry thought he could just plug him in to that team and they'd keep rolling. It wasn't until the players decided to take control that they won it all again.

That was a heck of group of talent Switzer inherited.

In defense of Switzer he had been retired for 6 years and never been in the Pro game. I don't know what he did for Dallas but it always felt like a retirement check from his old pal.

But worst coach? He'll no, he was a HOF College coach.
