I saw a young Mel Ott play in Patterson.

Isn't the oldest to ever play like Satchel Paige. Wasn't he like almost 60?

Orlando Pena.
I saw “Joe Morgan” near the top of the list. Glad I saw his MLB end date.

The first player name I remember from when I was about 5 or 6 in 1970 was Johnny Bench. 1st player name I remember seeing in person was Doug Rader (Astros), 1973. Those two guys are the same age, born in 1944 , same as my mom.
Bench was actually born in 1947, on December 7th, which was the same exact day my mom was born. I'm a huge Cincinnati Reds and Bench fan. Every year from middle school up I always give my Mom the "What's today? I think it's Johnny Bench's birthday" routine. Side note: it's also Larry Bird's birthday, but he is almost 10 years younger.

Oh yes, the "white" Joe Morgan who I remember as the manager of the Red Sox in the late 80's/early 90's.

Jaime Moyer
Was born 11/16/62 the same day Ed Moyer passed away.
Ed & Jamie are the only two MLB players in history with that last name.

He passed during Covid, but Niekro was born in the 30s

Interesting that he, Bob Skinner, Bill Mazeroski, and Vern Law all from the 1960 Pirates World Champion team are all still alive in their 90's(well, Maz will be if he makes to to September. The rest are mid 90's). Pretty cool
Well, I jinxed that I guess

Sanford Braun Koufax, still my favorite pitcher who ever lived.

On my sports calendar every year that date stands out each year.
Larry Bird, Johnny Bench, Terrell Owens, Fernando Vargas' birthdays.

Off that list, Al Worthington.
I remember a Twins game in 69 where he came in with the bases loaded and struck out three in a row to preserve the win.

I remember that one.

Can’t actually remember much beyond the age of 5, and that was in 1990. Nolan Ryan was my favorite player then and the oldest player in baseball. He’s 79 now so I’ll go with him

Nolan Ryan, who was just about to beat the shite out of Robin Ventura a few years later.
Don’t know many other players still playing in the late 80s who were also playing in the mid-60s.

I never saw Ted Williams play, but I did see him manage. I saw a game in DC when he managed the Washington Senators.
