Miami was a drive away from winning the natty (reminded me of 2017 Kirby/UGA tbh) and has a top 3 class and is pulling top 5 type classes on the regular. Plus they are the only team in the talent rich state of Florida who is operating at an elite level as UF and FSU are dead programs.
FWIW Cristobal has won more games in the 12 team era than Kirby, who is considered the best coach in the country currently.

Second, if we say this is so, it would have as much (or more) to do with the playoff system as the NIL / TP stuff.
Nebraska won three national titles in the ‘90s and didn’t even have to play the best competition (for one game, much less a playoff) in two of those seasons. You can’t do that shite now.
Miami won four national titles from 1983-1991. The 1991 title was split and the importance of the Orange Bowl at the time was highly advantageous as Miami’s home field. Maybe things play out differently if some of those games had been played elsewhere.
My point is… some dynasties (including B2B or 2/3 titles) were helped by the bowl format. There are no split titles anymore, and you have to be the real deal to win it all.
I think that’s as big a challenge for today’s teams compared to the dynasties of previous eras. You pretty much have to be the best team in a given year to win it.
Something like Alabama winning the 1973 title without having to beat ND, splitting the title with USC in 1978, and then winning it “outright” in 1979 for a ‘70s dynasty isn’t going to cut it anymore. You’re going to have to win it outright every time and try to stay healthy over a longer season.

NIL will be reigned in when the private schools start slinging out cash that the publics can't afford. We're already starting to see the improvements of Vanderbilt, Duke, and Notre Dame - as soon as they start dominating in a few years the schools that dominated the last 25 years will start crying foul to whoever will listen in order to reign in their power.

Texas, Texas A&M, Texas tech, Oregon, Miami and Michigan have the best NIL resources so really any of them have a shot at being dominant in the NIL era. Oregon will probably drop off once phil knight is gone though, I remember hearing his family isnt all that interested in Oregon football. Miami's talent and recruiting right now is pretty scary, I could see them winning multiple national titles in the next few years.

It's this. The new economics of college football means talent is far less concentrated. Despite the unfortunate developments killing traditions left and right, the optimistic view is that instead of four to six programs consistently maintaining a very high level, maybe we can have 20 programs that that can rise up to the top in any given year.
As talent gets spread out, it will be easier perhaps to really see who the great coaches are. The lack of great coaches will be the primary factor that will limit CFB to a modest number of great programs.

A modern day CFB dynasty will never exist in Baton Rouge, you could give them Texas money and it still wouldn’t happen

No possibility of a split title and having to face all the best teams in the playoffs will have more to do with that than NIL and the portal.
You can’t split a title like 2003 USC did with LSU. Votes can’t win you a national title like 1994 Nebraska over Penn State. Those titles were part of questionable repeats.

ND must have changed their academic standards recently. In the last few years under BK and now MF ,this is the 1st year they have been able to recruit this many quality players.They haven’t recruited this well since Lou Holtz was coach when he got them to lower their standards.
