What’s the most physical altercations you’ve witnessed at a sporting event?

I saw several at a Miami vs Notre Dame football game a few years ago. Before, even during and definitely after the game.

I don’t think anything compares with UFC or NFL games.

Different crowds completely from a college gameday IMO.

I have been to all 3 sports many times and as far as people acting the arse and shite UFC is a much better crowd than NFL or CFB.

I saw a guy get stabbed and killed at a local dirt track on a Friday night back in 87.

Iowa v Iowa State Football 2002. Iowa state had a heisman contender QB, Iowas QB ended up Heisman runner up to Carson Palmer. Iowa state was ranked, Iowa was coming off a 7-5 season after winning 4 games in Ferentzs first 2 years.

Kick was like 5:30pm, which is a 10-11 hour tailgate in Iowa City following a rowdy night before. shite got out of hand. Saw no less than 20 fights, some really bad. They’ve never played that late again.

Is this shot from Freedom 250 the type of "physical altercation" that you speak of

?

Any Miami game you will have a lot of fights. Often it is Miami fans fighting other Miami fans

Went there for law school and man it's a special fanbase

Probably the end of the 1984 LSU-Tulane game, but the altercations were all on the field:

Video doesn't do it justice. There were dozens of individual skirmishes all over the south end zone.

Game was called with time left on the clock

Say what you want about Tulane but they ran off a couple of the main culprits in that episaode.

Lot of crossover with those two fanbases with Miami Hurricanes fans.

Been to a lot of sporting events all over the country over the years across a lot of different sports. Don't think I've ever consistently seen so many fights and arrests as at a Louisville / Kentucky football game.

Basketball tickets are too expensive for that game, and the fans actually in the arenas are on the higher end of the socioeconomic spectrum for both fanbases, so minimal antagonism in the stands. Not so for football. There's a reason the schools decided to pull that game from a Labor Day weekend night game to a Thanksgiving weekend noon kickoff. Holy shite. And it spills over onto the field as often as not.

Lord Almighty, those schools hate each other. Will be interesting to see with Will Stein (who was a local legend in high school in Louisville and at UL) at the helm of UK if it cools off.

Maybe not the most physical, but the best was in 1997... saw a drunk Florida fan who couldn't take the shoes off his teeth get beat up, and thrown in one of the trough urinals in the student section. Dude from Florida was dazed laying in that trough full of piss, but the line was forever long and the next guys in line stepped up and proceeded to handle their business like nothing had happened

Golota Bowe. After repeated low blows from Golota, arena turned into an apocalyptic fight for survival. The entire arena!
