Vs when players go into portal to chase them $$. When it is explained to me like that..im all for the transfer portal…wanna teach kids about “real life”…people switch jobs for a bigger pay day…i was orginally against the portal. I supported the saying “loyality..u gave them ur word..4 yrs..ect” not no more..chase them dollars young fella.

The argument is that the players aren't professionals.

But, let's be real, before NIL, they already were working as if they were professionals, just weren't getting paid like it.

Comparing coaches to players is a horrible, and dishonest argument.

It’s like a meme someone reads that they think sounds cool, so they screenshot it and send it to all their friends, but its really stupid.

A coach’s career can last 50-plus years. The average coaching tenure at a school is around 5 years, longer than the average college player’s career.

Are you suggesting that Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame after 11 years is similar to a college football player leaving after 1?

And coaches have contracts with buyouts and other provisions that can restrict them. They can be fired.

College eligibility is based around the average time to get a degree. Transferring should be discouraged as it generally comes with a setback academically.

Should NILs have buyouts?

At some point, the adults need to run the place.

Are kids that take woodshop in high school gonna want pay for their time building theater props and shite like that.

I’m so tired of people claiming that 18-22 year olds deserve the same treatment as coaches. The trickle down is that Hs athletes should go to whatever local school they want. Follow coaches, right?

The difference is coaches are paid professionals.

If last offseason, Jamar Chase found some kind of loophole and joined the Chiefs, the NFL would close that shite in a heartbeat

Yep, if they are NIL deals, I think scholarship should be off the table too, just NIL and build your team. They can also talk to people not in the portal.

If they were bringing in the money of major college football players, I bet they would.

Adults having a raging hard-on for 20 year old college kids scoring touchdowns in their alma mater’s uniform is what caused this shite. You all hate NIL and transfer portal, but you’re still going to watch because you can’t help yourselves.

You. Are. The. Problem.

Players aren’t under contract.

There needs to be limitations.

Either you can receive NIL money at your current school or you can enter the portal. Once you do one, you can’t do the other.

Alternatively, “someone” can pay your school 500k to buy you out.

This position really argues on behalf of the players. Their careers are shorter, so they really need to move to get where they want to go and get the most cash. Coaches with their 40 year careers can take their time.

You can hire a coach any day out of 365. When a player leaves, how much time does the coach have to replace them?

frick the current system and the pretense any of these kids are “students.” The NFL should be forced to create a minor league.

Do the players bring in money or does the TEAM bring in money?

I'm honestly SURPRISED that NILs haven't included buyouts within their contracts already.

Think about it - Gordon is supposed to be this top dawg lawyer but he doesn't build in a clause in his NIL deal that gets him paid back on an NIL if/when a LSU player wants to transfer?
How are all of these "successful" boosters just dropping this NIL $ down on 18-22 yr old kids without any actual guarantee of keeping them locked in or getting their investment back?

There needs to be a strict time period for when players can transfer. Like the Sunday after conference championship games til whatever the late signing period date is. And you can only transfer once without sitting out a year. The system in place now is a disaster.

Setting the rules based on the needs of the 1 percent and not the 99 percent is really fricking stupid.
