How is Citi compared to Shea?

For as much as people liked to rip on Shea towards the end a lot of players seemed to have an affinity for the place and a lot of cool history happened there, and I remember a lot of people being sad to see it go

Barry Larkin story- He did so well in Shea that he named his daughter Shea. After the first time she went to Shea stadium, he said she yelled at him after the game saying you named me after a dump.

Busch stadium #2 is not great, because they had to have it built in such a short time, and finish the last 1/4, once playoffs werre over, it made it bland, and shite is missing.

had they moved the stadium, and had full years to build, they would of made something on lines of pittsburgh, instead it was rushed and is a cookie cutter version of baltimore stadium(same builder)

Compared to Turner Field its harder to get to and maybe out of as well, parking is worse. But the Braves needed an upgrade.

Don't know about that.Turner Field could be a nightmare with pretty much all the traffic coming in one direction
(from the northern burbs south)Turner was also an island with nowhere to go pre or post game and surrounding area was obviously shite.

Truist was the only move to make and it's been hugely successful.

San Francisco 49’ers moving to Stanta Clara and the Washington Redskins moving to FedEx Field are the most glaring example I can imagine.

Yeah what he said is BS.

There are more points of egress at Truist than there ever were at Turner. It's a lot easier to get out of. Not to mention more parking.

I really have no idea why the Yankees tore down arguably the most historic stadium/arena in all of sports. Did Steinbrenner ever state why?

I liked the overhanging deck that Tiger Stadium had.

I like how close to the court the upper levels are in the old Oregon arena. In the new arena, the upper level is further away. And all this time I thought only New Mexico's arena was known as The Pit. But I guess not.

Levis stadium is a weirdly designed venue over an hour away from San Francisco.

True, but football in Candlestick was terrible

????

Tulane's program was DEAD in the Superdome... now they're under the night sky in a fabulous setting to drink and actually have somewhat of a fanbase when their games don't conflict with the Tigers

But if it was built somewhere else there likely wouldn't be any Ballpark Village. Which I'm sure DeWitt absolutely wanted with the new stadium. What else is missing? Unless it was built right next to the Mississippi River, it likely wouldn't have the same pretty backdrop the Pirates stadium has. I would have preferred some quirky dimensions, but DeWitt wanted it the way it is.

Only because of how successful Ballpark Village has become.

I loved tuning in to postseason games from the Bronx. It’s not on that level anymore.

no venue is.

people with money don't want to be exposed to that type of behavior from people without money

yes, people with money have a casual disinterest in sports because it's perceived as something that people without money care too much about. they're the "corporate" fans that teams want because they have money, the people that tell you to sit down when you want to make noise on third and 15, the people that sell their tickets except when the opponent is in the top 10 or it's a prime-time game, etc.

Ok

The Yankee fans are about as nasty and ruthless as it gets for opposing fan bases. And you certainly don't have to wait until the playoff to get downwind to it.

I thought you didn’t know what I was trying to say?

It’s not the same, and it’s not close. This is common knowledge. It’s like modern day college football. They built a palace and had to raise ticket prices to do so. That means a portion of the lubed up fans can’t afford to go.

Citi is nice, but the drawback will always be location. It’s damn near at the end of the track, and it’s surrounded by parking lots.

Sure they do, if it means they can get a seat behind home plate and be on TV.

The Chicago mayor now wants a dome over Soldier Field. Won't this make the gameday experience even more stale?

quote:

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot revealed three proposals on Monday for renovations to Soldier Field to entice the Bears to remain at their home stadium of the past 50 years.

At the center of the proposal is the construction of a domed stadium, which could cost anywhere from $900 million to $2.2 billion.
