I hope the majority of answers are the obvious for most of us.
High School ended and wasn't good enough for a good college.
Yep. Pretty much this. Started at QB last game of junior year and all of senior year. I really loved the game and would have gladly accepted a walk on spot to get my arse kicked on a daily basis, but no such offer ever came. Suffered a knee injury junior year and never had the same speed after that.

Broke my arm as a sophomore.
I was not big, but I was slow. I was a backup. I also snapped punts.
I got a job after school. Never went back to playing.
I did letter in golf.

I was good but really wasn't as competitive as you need to be to play football. I really didn't give a shite if we won or lost I was just worried about which party I was going to after the game. Not a good mindset for a team sport. Once I broke my collar bone midway through sophomore year I really checked out and said frick it midway through spring practice before junior year. Coaches weren't happy because I was slated to be a starting LB that year

i played up until 7th grade. Played Quarterback
- baseball
- basketball especially once i got in high school was a year round thing really.
- girls. i liked girls too much to not go to football games
- we sucked dog dick in HS
- i wasn't big. 5'8 135 ish going into 10th grade
- i wasn't a good enough quarterback to supplant the starting QB who I was friends with we both played on the baseball team he had a stronger arm and was bigger
- i liked having a summer job and making money also until basketball season started, i could work on weekends

A "friendly fire" chop block on the edge during spring practice before my RS SO year. Was coming off an All conference RS FR campaign, but rehab never got me back to where I needed to be. Ended up transferring after I realized I'd never be the same.

I was WR and safety my freshman and sophomore year. Summer of JR year I was introduced to mary jane and all my ambitions went out the window.

We won all the way through senior year of HS. A great way to go out. No desire to play college and I sucked anyway. I often question whether or not I would let my son play. Right now i'm leaning toward no.

Actually, my athletic experience was worse as an adult when I thought I still had something in the tank.
I joined the rugby team here in CC that plays in a statewide rugby union. The first day we were running sprints. I realized just how slow I was. Then I stepped in a crack in the ground, turned my ankle, then faceplanted on the ground. I immediately threw up. I was concussed, and my rugby career done in about 15 minutes.

Got undercut by a DE on a lead block, I played fullback, and almost destroyed my knee. My baseball coach walked over as I sat on the trainers table and asked me "is football worth your baseball scholarship?"
That was the last time I played organized football. I love it, but it's way too easy to ruin your body. fricking miss blindsiding linebackers tho. That's a sound you will never forget.

Real simple. I played in the final game of my senior season and had not received a single recruiting letter. I could have tried to walk on somewhere but I wasnt that stupid.

See.
This is like 90% of real life answer.
There are a lot of us who could have gone to Div III and walked on...but meh, small schools in the middle of nowhere. You really have to love football.
The massive majority of Americans - probably 90% - your last game of football is your last high school game.

We lost a playoff game in HS. I was barely good enough to start for a small HS team in TX... no shot at college.

Well let's be honest I sucked at football so after high school.
Also knew I was always going to LSU so.......
My grandpa who was a WWII vet did ask if I was gonna play at LSU which I thought was hilarious. But then again he asked me if they still made freshman shave there head when they got to campus...this was 2001.

Quit after junior year because I was taking 3 AP classes (English Lit, Biology, and Calculus) my senior year. Sucks because my senior year we won state!!! HC pulled me aside a few days after the game and told me that if they could afford it he would order me a ring anyway due to the reason why I didn't play that year, but school was small (4A) and couldn't afford it.

I broke my arm in JV freshman year and decided to quit because I was more serious about lacrosse and basketball and didn't want to jeopardize those. My friends convinced me to play again as a senior. Already had a college destination for lacrosse, so I decided to give it a shot. No more football games to play after that season.
