I was like 4-11 and 160 pounds of chub entertaining freshman year of high school.

I was ok in middle school but got absolutely owned when we would go against the B-team

So I quit and hit puberty in like 10th grade but I was over it at that point.

Coach asked to come out and try kicking. After an hour of kicking field goals, I asked if this was all we did. The coach said, "Yeah." So I quit.

Had a few walk on opportunities along with some div ll and lll schools asking me to come play.. I was tired of it though, my body was beaten up and I tapped out.. Didn't love the game enough to do it anymore. My only shot to play the higher level of college was as a deep snapper and I hated the stress of the job

People were calling into bomani Jones' show and I thought it would be good for the MSB to come together and discuss the moment that the lightbulb clicked on "I can't do this".

First day of tackling drills my freshman year of high school I got paired up with this huge and fast black kid. When I went to tackle him, he ran right through me. I'm tall so I was able to grab his pads and bring him down, but my head hurt and I was dizzy for like the next two days

That was when I realized that football had quit me

I wasn't athletic or determined enough to play football on the next level. My biggest regret is still blowing off workouts and/or going through the motions in practice while in HS.

I didn't play HS football. Played quarterback in flag football but in high school I was loaded up on classes and picked GATE/quiz bowl over sports.

I did play a year semi-pro but it was insane. I thought it would be a friendly league but it was more like Last Chance U. I played up against Justin Scott, 3-year starting defensive end for Arkansas. He had been cut by the Cowboys.

I just wanted to have fun but these guys were trying to get tape for college/pro scouts.

Broken arm and shattered my left kneecap in HS. Sport just want worth the harm I was putting my body through and I needed money in the form of an after school job.

Because I wasn't particularly good at it.

Too slow to be a WR, too small to be anything else. Didn't have enough arm strength to throw downfield. Decided to pursue other interests. I was tired of propping up the water cooler.

I learned I was better at other sports and didn't want to go to practice

I was a 165 pound center
All the starting linemen were at least 220

So I get my head kicked in everyday in practice

After a year of not gaining any muscle mass and strength along with getting hit, I threw in the towel

I remember after the coaches spoke going back to the field taking it all in, knowing there were no more games to play.

My dad came and walked around with me and told me that there would be things to do in life that would take football's place.

He was wrong.

Played from 4th grade - 10th grade. Went out for spring practice in 11th grade and just didn't enjoy it anymore.
