Just like every other bozo who takes their dog to places that aren’t really appropriate, he’s looking for attention. Unless you’re on a bomb squad or K-9 unit, there’s no real reason to take your dog to work

Stay in your house then. You people are insufferable. The dog isn’t getting near you unless you get next to it intentionally. That’s a you problem. They’re on an outdoor set and no where near you.
I have no idea why Kirk has his dog with him. But I find your obsession and fear with it far more off putting then its presence on the show. Louis CK was right. Maybe we ought to just ignore all these allergies for a few generations and see how things go.

I like his dogs. I’ve actually liked him better seeing him with the dogs. Who cares? Are we just upset because it may take away some from the usual boring football takes we’ve heard a 1,000x before?
That travel schedule probably sucks. How many times can you go to dinner and hang out with Rece Davis or Chris Fowler? Would you even want to?
I’m pro dog.

Maybe you should just die then. There really shouldn't be a place in this world for genetic defectives.

It's obnoxious and unprofessional to have his dog running around all the time every where he goes. Having it on gameday occasionally is fine, it's a more jovial atmosphere, but beyond that he should know better. There's probably a lot of people who think it and nobody will say anything.

I feel like the brutal travel schedule can create some issues mentally. Having a dog might stabilize things a bit. He’s lucky, as most folks that travel frequently for work aren’t on chartered jets with room for your dog.
We have steers, bulldogs, collies, hogs, birds, and all sorts of shite at football games. Kirk’s dog isn’t taking away from anything.

Gonna be honest…I’ve seen some posts and thought “this is one of the most soft and beta posts ever”, but this has got to be the GOAT. Multiple posts about dog allergies, about service dog, trying to call out the premier football sports announcers about not caring about allergies…i am blown away someone would care and continue to argue about this.
I’m sure it has been covered but…he had a beloved dog, Ben, who got cancer and started traveling with during the last few months of Ben’s life. Ben was so chill and comforting he became a national sensation. Ben was dying and their bond was so touching for months. The 45.5-47.6% of households who own a dog…it touched them. It is tv, has nothing to do with you.
But hey, the 6-10% of dog allergy people, let’s cater to them. You are a minority. By a lot. You don’t get to dictate the rules or bitch. If we start down this road, no peanuts anywhere. Avocados? BYE.

Herbstreit’s dog in CFB >>>> Taylor Swift in NFL
This completely misses the point
Taylor Swift is dating a football player and because she is famous they show her at his games, over show her for sure but that’s basically it. It’s not showing the dog on tv that’s the issue.

I’d much rather be around dogs than men of such weak bloodlines.
Try exposure therapy.

The dog helps keep him from cheating on his wife again. Seriously

My 6 year old has allergic reactions to some dogs, specifically a family member that has two dogs. Every time we go to their house my daughter breaks out in hives and sometimes has an asthma attack.
People like you and the others bashing the OP are flat out weird. You treat dogs like your “children” and place them above other humans. It’s a mental illness for sure.

Herbstreit is soft af now. Some of the things he does and says make me think he's a little light in the loafers.
Posted on 9/2/25 at 5:33 am to TigerSharkMan
Ben was diagnosed with leukemia and lymphoma in March and died Thursday after the cancer spread throughout his organs, Herbstreit said on X. He was 10 human years old. "I've had dogs my whole life but Ben was 1 (of) 1," Herbstreit said

+1 he's espn royalty so I'm sure they don't care, but I do wonder if it's anxiety or something else he deals with.
He does cry a lot.

People that are allergic to dogs are generally huge pussies. Sorry you didn’t evolve properly, feel for you
