Really? I think if anything this doc shows how overstated that stuff is by people who grew up in that era.

there were a lot of white guys in the NBA back then".
There were portions that showed 4, and even all starting 5, white dudes on the court for Boston during the series. We will never see that again. Imagine what Bron's physically superior self would have done to them poor baws in that age

MJ made Nike and paved the way for the shoe deal for athletes
Like any sport the league evolves over time
The center is all but out of the game
The refs called it different back then
They played defense in the all star game unlike the joke of a game it is now

LeBron, for example, is a big star today, but his stardom is nothing compared to Jordan’s. Jordan had an aura that is unexplainable. People went absolutely nuts over MJ like nobody I’ve ever seen.
That won't ever happen again. There is so much access now though social media, 24 hours news cycle, every game being on TV. There is no way to have that aura and mystique with so much exposure.

My kid is confused because he’s always been told that the 90s were so physical and brutal that a 6’8 260 pound superfreak wouldn’t be able to handle it.
And yet he’s seen guys like Isiah Thomas, John Starks, Danny Ainge playing pretty well in the doc so far

What are your kids reaction to watching The Last Dance
quote:Hopefully you're teaching him that it's literally no different now than it was back then. If you're watching the doc, you'd remember that MJ was golfing with the other team the day(maybe day before, but you get the point) of a playoff game.
He saw how there was hatred for other teams and not everybody were friends going out to eat after a game.
MJ/Larry/Magic were all great friends. Magic/Isaiah had their moments, but they would also kiss each, literally kiss each other, at midcourt right before tipoff.
It's no different than today's game where some players are buddies and some players have bitter rivalries with others. I don't know why people think it's so different, and this doc is actually proving that it's NOT different.

quote:It's odd how the OP watched this doc and came to the conclusion that players hated each other when the doc has taught us the opposite, many of the players were good buddies who would hang out together exactly like they do in today's game.
Michael was playing golf with his opponents in between Finals games.

This is honestly one of my biggest takeaways. I was born in '94 so don't remember any 90's basketball. The number of average looking white guys playing in these games is mind-blowing

I doubt he learned this from watching the doc because it actually shows the opposite
He probably "learned" it from you repeatedly telling him this is how it was

My 12yo kid loves the show. But he argues that Jordan wouldn't have had as many titles is Giannis was in the league back then. Because Giannis will go down as the greatest ever to play the game, according to him.

It's not odd when you consider the op is trolling

My kid is barely 7.
There wasn’t a ton of reaction out of any of it.

Except maybe that other MJ
The other mj figured out that karma is a bitch. That pos probably took advantage of 100 kids in his life, including his own, which he fricking named blanket.
My mother watched that trial on TV, I believe. My dad said that when they read the verdict out loud she cried, she was so upset because she was so confident that he was guilty. She was very smart, so I take her side, too bad she's not here anymore, fricking cancer continues to wipeout at least one person in every single person's life.

My son keeps trying to bet me on throwing quarters against a wall and saying he needs time away from the family to go to Vegas.
