The positives are that my son learned about the era that I grew up watching and how physical it was compared to now. He saw how there was hatred for other teams and not everybody were friends going out to eat after a game. He now understands why Jordan is the best basketball player to ever play the game.

The negatives are that now he wants me to buy him Jordans. I told him I only owned one pair of Jordans growing up and those were the Jordans 11. I told him I’m not about to spend over $200 for him to wear and freak them up.

Michael was playing golf with his opponents in between Finals games.

That the physicality and lockdown defense of that era is greatly exaggerated

I think a lot of younger people don’t realize how big of a star Michael Jordan really was.

LeBron, for example, is a big star today, but his stardom is nothing compared to Jordan’s. Jordan had an aura that is unexplainable. People went absolutely nuts over MJ like nobody I’ve ever seen.

This. MJ was in a league with babe Ruth, Elvis, the Beatles and few others.

As a 12 year old I remember watching the Bulls play the Mavs at Reunion Arena and after the game I walked down to touch the sweat from Mike’s chair. I wasn’t the only one. His fame was on another level.

Jordan lovers will hate it, but my son thinks its super boring. He also keeps saying "there were a lot of white guys in the NBA back then".

These kinds of statements are just plain false....LeBron gets the same treatment, if not more! Was Jordan on the cover of ESPN the magazine when he was 16? Was Jordan playing high school games on TV when he was 16, 17, 18 years old?? They knew at that age Lebron was going to be a mega star. That's some serious pressure for a kid!!! LeBron's fame easily rivals that of Jordan. Its actually dam impressive the way Lebron has handled himself all things considered. Could Jordan have survived in the age of social media like Lebron has?

This is honestly one of my biggest takeaways. I was born in '94 so don't remember any 90's basketball. The number of average looking white guys playing in these games is mind-blowing

Has your kid ever played basketball? Rewatching those MJ highlights reminded me why he is the GOAT. He had perimeter shooting, great dribbling, and when he went to the basket some of the shots he made were superhuman. No one in the league today compares to MJ, not even Lebron.

Not even close. Jordan was a pop culture icon in a way that no other American athlete is or has been.

Lebron isn't in the same stratosphere. The only person who might be is peak Tiger.

I mean minus MJ going out golfing with his boys on the other team the night before an ECF game.
