In real life, you transfer early on, you lose the scholarship $ you had initially received.
That depends on how good of a student you are. If you're a superstar student, the school you transfer to can offer you scholarships, too.
Football players have that sort of value. It's not an apt comparison to a normal kid who isn't that valuable to a university.

This was all inevitable. You cannot have these monster tv and coaching deals and have the players getting nothing. Just absurd they couldn't market themselves.
With that said, it would be great if the NFL put some emphasis on staying at one school and/or graduating. Like maybe if you graduate you get 25% higher potential salary or signing bonus. But the NFL doesn't give af about policing ncaaf bc the current setup benefits them the most.

These NIL melts have been unexpectedly enjoyable

The market is now less 'regulated' and is efficiently doing what it has not been able to do in the last 152 years. Well, certainly the last 20-25!
It’s not a “market”. It’s university sponsored athletic competition.

Name one thing that actually felt abnormal about this football season?

The transfer portal and NIL both exploded this year
We’ll see how it plays out

People still like the NFL not like they did when we had teams like the Houston Oilers

Not sure that’s true. People still like the NFL.
True but the nfl has regulated the league in such a way to ensure stability and parity. Cfb is not. This is looking like it’s going to be way more like the mlb than the nfl where bama, osu etc. get even richer in talent.
Right now small market teams in baseball are basically glorified farm systems for the Yankees, Dodgers, etc. And many mlb stadiums are largely empty. People are hand waving saying this can’t happen in college football. I disagree. We’ll see what happens but this could turn into a circus

Yep, the NIL and transfer rules are going to ruin the game.
With that said, I think players should be allowed to transfer, just like coaches can, but with no penalty for doing so, it going to change teams every year signifcantly

Could you imagine a rookie NFL player who just signed a 4 year contract being able to bounce without consequence to a better team after 1 season?
shite. They’re doing it in the middle of the season dude.

This "idyllic" past never existed in College. Players were throwing games in, taking bribes in basketball and being paid by "handlers."
The difference is the money was usually limited to a handful of big-time recruits and done quietly, discreetly, and far under the table. If you were caught blatantly cheating you paid the piper. That all changed after what happened with Miami in the early 2010s. They had a big-time booster admit while in prison that he delved out untold amounts of cash and impermissible benefits to recruits and players. What's more? He brought receipts. It was just about as bad as what SMU had been doing during the 80s. Miami didn't even get so much as a slap on the wrist because the NCAA screwed up the investigation.

It really is. NCAA really had a 1 page document in how to manage this. CFB will never be the same and that sucks.
It's not just NIL. Coaches hopping jobs, players hopping schools, players skipping bowl games, teams in conferences with no geographic history. The sport isn't what it once was and will never be again.

Tell me about the Oakland/LA/Oakland/Vegas Raiders. The San Diego/where in the hell Chargers, Ramada Inn Rams. Tennessee Oilers? The mega market Jeiants?
Are we watching a trainwreck? Cam, AB, OBJ? Appealing.
It is quite honestly the poorest professional product ever.

14-0 Auburn was left out of a title game 15 years ago. CFB has always been fricked
