I agree but this seems odd coming from a LeBron fan

The NCAA and the conferences did it to themselves.

“Alright we just signed a multi billion dollar tv deal. Oh you have permanent knee damage? Sorry we need your scholarship. No you can’t change schools without sitting out a year. Oh you’re homeless and a church gave you a place to stay? Sorry that’s against the rules and you can’t play.”

It was too much. Something was eventually going to give. The NCAA and the conferences had plenty of time to prevent this from happening sooner rather than later. They didn’t, the courts decided for them

Bama players are all too well compensated to go anywhere else.

now when do we address ESPN and CBS and Fox throwing billions of dollars at these schools and coaches leveraging their jobs a couple weeks before signing day every year so they can make over 10 million dollars

Should have been:

You transfer, you sit a year, unless you're a senior or a graduated upperclassmen. You also cannot benefit from NIL the first year you're there.

Wonder why LSU fans always have to include this exception

If you graduate I don’t see why you shouldn’t get to transfer anywhere with no penalty

You actually have fulfilled the true college requirement/commitment to the university

Graduation has nothing, and I mean nothing, to do with football eligibility

They should just get rid of the 4 year eligibility requirements and turn college football into the new NFL.

Remind me again, who's pockets are these players in that has everyone so worried?

The magic portal allows a player to move ONE time. Fair enough. When Riley and Kelly suddenly take their ball and go somewhere else, when Orgeron gets his feathers clipped, these players have viable options. ONE time. Oh, the humanity of it all.

Exactly. I don't get why people are acting like it's pure free agency every offseason.

It's also really sad to hear this complaining from a big school when the real losers will be small schools who recruit/develop gems (like the FIU OT). They're going to lose every kid of value and be relegated to 3rd class status.

NCAA really had a 1 page document in how to manage this.

Well to be honest, unless you were a G5 or really invisible P5 program, the NCAA hasn’t been managing and enforcing shite for the past 15-25 or so years.

Probably didn’t even need one page for their “management” of NIL.

Funny part, I'm not a LSU fan. It'd a reasonable approach in terms of how college works.

In real life, you transfer early on, you lose the scholarship $ you had initially received. However, you finish a degree, you tend to have finished the scholarship obligation and if you continue to go to school anywhere for a masters, you have free reign.

Putting it into college athletics, transferring before you complete a degree comes at a cost like it would normally.

Transferring after you completed a degree, however shouldn't since in real life there wouldn't be either.
