The protest had nothing to do with the country or politics, rather protesting the USSF after they released a tone-deaf press release that basically say women are losers
This. USSF released a horrible press release that has been and deserved to get blasted. The women’s team had every right to not want to wear the USSF crest before the game.

She’s definitely getting more masculine looking by the day - she was cute 6 years ago or so

Want to get paid like them mean then just identify as them and play on the same field as them. problem solved

Again, they got whipped by 15 year old boys.
Not a select team of best 15 year olds in America, just a team of 15 year olds for a texas youth team.

My sister was outraged over the entire thing even though THEY MADE MORE MONEY THAN THE MEN and both are collectively bargained.
I have an easy answer, eliminate "Mens" and "Womens" teams and have them all compete for one truly equal pay scale.
After reading the statement, woof they may have gone a tad too far. It's one thing to say they can't compete on the same level, it's another to just make asinine arguments like more hostile crowds. Hell, I did enjoy they basically said the men are shittier compared to their peers though.

I'm trying to figure out what you think is so funny? The statement, why terrible, is true.
The mens team get pelted with piss balloons, batteries, beer bottles when playing in Central America/islands.
There's a reason Azteka in Mexico City has chain link fence and barbed wire in all the levels of the stadium. Our men's team probably plays in more hostile conditions than any other sports team in the World.
For the record, I'm now rooting for the women to win based on how tone deaf the statement was. That statement may finally bring down the leadership that all US soccer fans have been hoping for.

I'm not saying it is or isnt true, it's just funny and a ridiculous point to make

Women are coddled by society more than any other group of people and yet they labor under the delusion they are the most persecuted. It's utter madness.

Gotcha. I know you hate soccer, so I wasn't sure if you were thinking the statement was rediculous (it is) or that anything soccer would be considered hostile.

Jackass, the pay scales are driven by revenues. People don’t spend the money to attend female sporting events, buying team gear, etc. This is like saying a mechanic at Walmart should make the same as a mechanic at a chemical plant.

There are literally only 12-15 countries in the world that are legitimate in women’s soccer. They expanded the field in the last women’s cup, and I think it was Thailand who we played. We beat them like 14-0. It was an embarrassment. THAT is the biggest difference between the men’s and women. The women beat the 16th best country in the world 14-0. In men’s the #1 team could play the #100 ranked team in the world and it would never be that bad. They say the women “win”...well of course they do, 75% of the world doesn’t even have women’s soccer. Also, the men’s and women’s World Cup revenue isn’t even in the same universe. The USWNT is becoming unbareable. They earn exactly what they’re worth!!

She is a strong woman and I applaud her efforts for women's rights. I especially applaud when she tells women who wear hijabs to quit their oppressive culture, risk their lives by ripping them off, and getting a Zack Morris like her

Tony Kornheiser had the correct take.
The player are under collective bargaining contract until 2021(?ish) and the USSF should have simply stated that they don’t change contracts agreed to by the players.

Well if part of the argument is they perform different jobs then the men having to play in hostile environments supports that.

On one side, the women win more and I believe they generate more revenue.
No they don't. You simply bought their BS spin. They love to conveniently forget that the USSF pays their freaking Club salaries, but not for the men. They also get health coverage where as the men don't. They get a base salary of $100,000 a year, but the men only get bonuses based on when they play/train.
They love to claim they bring in more revenue but choose to pick the range for the year the men don't make the World Cup to bolster their argument.
It's such bullshite and embarrassing. Give them equal pay, but cut the benefits like the guaranteed salary, paying their club salaries and their healthcare. Let the league deal with their salaries instead of subsidizing that crap.

USSF should forfeit the matches and disband the team.

It’s pretty relevant considering that happens often.
