May not have the money and, if they aren’t going anywhere else, the Big Ten can always offer them a few years down the road if they want to.

Yahoo says B1G is offering half revenue to Oregon and Washington. They are gonna have to take it though

Its official the Big12 voted to accept Arizona just a few minutes ago. No vote was held for Arizona State tonight though.

Although at this paint im not sure why the Big10 doesn't give them Half shares as well.
If they take Oregon and Washington only, they can wait for the ACC to break up to expand to 20 rather than take on 2 football non-factors (even at a discount).

Also, 20 teams caps out their potential expansion for quite a while.
Why blow that on Stanford and Cal if bigger fish are out there like ND, Clemson, FSU, etc?

They have no choice unless the Big12 is going to give them more money.

Big Ten’s offer to Washington & Oregon is expected to be $35-40 million annually per team - a figure that, with the additional cross-country travel, could create some hesitancy, sources tell @YahooSports . However, exits from the Four Corner schools could sway UW and UO to leave.

Utah doesn't need a vote to act so that should happen fast. One would think Arizona State will follow UA quickly.

I'm starting to wonder if Oregon or Washington say no to the Big 10 for 1/2 and one of those two bounces Arizona State from the Big 12 spot. It would not surprise me especially since they have 24 hours to figure it out.

They would still get more money now and long term gain even sucking up and taking the half for the current deal.
They have to take that offer
They have to take that offer

Half of the Big Ten money is still $10+ million more than the Big 12. Zero chance they turn that down.

The additional cross-country travel costs for ALL SPORTS at this amount likely derailed their plans to join the Big 10. Would make near the same amount of money joining the Big 12 with 3/4 of the travel expenses that they would incur in the Big 10.

Would you rather take a half share of big money and still get access to the Los Angeles recruiting area or take a full share of less and pray you can recruit in Texas?

And make $100M per year in 6 years

Actually its not because you have to factor in all of the non-revenue sports that will drain them down by joining the Big 10. They needed at least 15 million to make the numbers work.

But they will be in one of the two super conferences when this goes to that.
You have to hop on the train now or never

They'd be travelling all over the country in the Big 12, too. They are isolated in the PNW regardless so they have hefty travel expenses.

Portland to Orlando or Cincinnati ain't exactly a cheap ticket for the women's basketball team.
They Big10 offer is better with more exposure playing bigger teams.

If utah and Arizona are big 12, meaning ASU is probably to. Then Oregon and Washington go to b1G or I see even Big 12 put there.
Given how crazy the expansion has gotten I wonder if the Big 10 is considering ASU as well as Oregon, Washington, and Stanford.

It’s a little harder to recruit when you’re NOT in one of the power conferences…
