Talking heads are claiming that the Pac 12 media deal has a drop dead date of the end of the week, which is why things have accelerated so much.

Deal expires at the end of the week.

Wouldn’t it be something if Kliavkov had the deal in hand and knew the deadline for months and waited until this week to inform the schools to try to back them into a corner.

I've also explored the idea of winning a billion dollars

If so, he did the stupidest thing possible because he just got about eight schools looking for an elector seat. Wazzu doesn’t get exit fees to split with Oregon St if the whole conference dissolves.

Sources: Arizona is in deep discussions with the Big 12 about joining the league. Some finality is expected in the near future, as there’s an Arizona Board of Regents meeting scheduled for later tonight.

Arizona State follows in lockstep.

Then comes Utah.

Watching 365 Sports from about an hour ago and the guy is pretty much saying that Apple potentially walks away from the deal now even if the PAC accepts it due to how things are going.

Allegedly this is Utah's main hold up.

Not sure why its cost Utah $50 million to change everything to Pac12 but that's just one report.

Cant be too much to change everything back to MWC? Surely there's a spare old jersey they can 3d print that logo off of?

Something sounds fricky about that but if I were them, I would be more concerned about being back in the Mountain West than paying to rebrand shite to the Big 12.

Isn't the only way to break the GOR for half plus one schools to drop out of the ACC?

They would not be adding Rutgers and Maryland if they were looking to expand today.

Would love to get rid of them but not likely to ever happen.

They could litigate it. Or threaten to litigate and settle.

Still would take time and there’s a potential for Free Shoes to do this then not have a landing spot.

I think that’s a weak excuse, but I feel for Utah. It’s like as soon as they’re the dominant team in the PAC 12, the conference blows up, the power 5 is no more, and they have to join a conference that isn’t one of the new Power 2. While Utah now gets to watch some of the media’s fav’s, that Utah’s accomplished more than recently, get into the better conferences.

To be fair, if Utah was dominating the PAC, that should have told them something was really wrong

That’s funny, but I personally like seeing an underdog program on top. I don’t think it means they had a problem for the conference. I think it means the top dogs of the conference are down. You’re not giving enough credit to Utah. It’s not their fault the west coast usuals aren’t as good. Utah is getting screwed.
