Agreed. But the school president seems married to the idea of the PAC as it was vs what it is right now or what it is about to be.

Its like national geography doesnt even matter anymore. You have schools in south Carolina florida and the pacific northwest with a bunch of schools from the midwest? What kind of sense would that make

I've listened to Crow and think he's less romantic and more strategic than that. My perception of him is why I think they are possibly trying to make a quiet play for the Big 10. I realize that would come out of left field to many people.

Being supposedly romantic about the PAC is a good story.for some alumni and media (who really do feel that way) if they are quietly told no. Then he can still go to the Big 12 because after all the PAC is essentially defunct.

Problem is that you need an even number of teams jumping.

Colorado and Arizona makes it even for the Big 12.

Utah is expected to jump shortly.

If ASU spends too much time trying to position themselves for the Big Ten, they potentially get stuck in the PAC while someone else jumps in their spot.

Best guess is the moves are being forced very rapidly.

I sort of deplore the idea of a mega conference stretching from Rutgers to UCLA. A big 12 with Arizona through Texas and Kansas schools makes regional sense to me - except for the Florida, Cincinnati, etc ruining that too.

Edited Cincinnati

I definitely think ASU wants the B1G to be an option. It's definitely an outside shot though, and would essentially need to be taken over Oregon.

Washington just extended the special session their board is in. Looks like some serious discussion from them tonight.

You don't need an even number if you don't have divisions.

How long does it possibly take to curse out the dipshit from Wazzu who finished flushing the conference down the toilet?

They are in the ACC, which is about to get a fresh round of hell out of this. That may be enough punishment.

Why would Oregon and Washington go to the B1G for as little as $3M more a year than they could get in the Big 12? I'll say it again it makes zero sense to join the Big 10 for those two programs.

Also have to look at the increased travel cost of heading to East Lansing and West Lafayette, as well as considering the ability to get in the playoffs.

Because once full members they get double the revenue, not just $3 Million more. Additionally, there are bigger matchups in the big 10 meaning more interest in games

Big Ten still has to have an official vote to allow membership. You were never getting anything from UW tonight. They are laying the groundwork for when Arizona jumps today and the other two corners jump next week.

12 team playoff means that the SEC and new expanded B1G will probably each get 3 teams into the playoffs now most years. Watered down PAC, even if it survives, would be a lot less likely to be in a position where they’re getting at-large teams into the playoff

East Lansing has flights to Detroit and Chicago. Hub airports.
