I’ve enjoyed seeing Brett McMurphy getting owned on this. That guy’s a tool.

Why would Oregon and Washington go to the B1G for as little as $3M more a year than they could get in the Big 12? I'll say it again it makes zero sense to join the Big 10 for those two programs.

Stewart Mandel has looked like a fool during all of this.

He’s also a giant twat so that’s fun, too.

Because the half share is just a buy in until they get full shares down the road. Same way Maryland and Rutgers got in.
Once you're in you're in and looking at full shares in the future.
They'd be stupid to turn this down. I hope they do. I don't want the BIG to expand. I don't even want the Last schools. Send them back. CFB is being destroyed.

Because in 6 years they will be making more than triple the Big12 and will have been on national TV a lot more

USC and UCLA have budgeted $10 to $12 million per year for travel costs and related expenses for their move to the Big 12. So this amounts to $23 to $27 million per year for Oregon and Washington which is not far off from the PAC and Big 12's deal. They are stuck at this amount for 6 years too while the other large programs build up their arsenal while Oregon & Washington fall farther behind.

I don't know how anyone feels very confident about the stability of any conferences.
Sure it would work out for the schools joining mega conferences if they were all going to receive $100M per school annually. But television revenues aren't escalating rapidly now. They don't seem stable at all.
Let's say the Big 10 expanded to 20 or 24 like some have speculated. Are the combination of contracts really going to sustainably generate upwards of $2B annually to distribute?
Which companies (ABC, ESPN, CBS, etc) are really making enough in profits from cfb advertising to justify paying that?

B10 split their rights across multiple networks in order to maximize their payoff.
Most other conferences are wedded to one network or another.

I agree with all of that. But we're supposedly talking about over $2B annually to justify paying.
Even split across multiple networks that is an enormous expectation.

I am not seeing where it's really that more expensive to fly into Detroit, Columbus, Indianapolis, Chicago, Newark, DC, etc than anywhere else.
The most expensive place to get to in the power 5 is already in the Pac-12 (Pullman).
Where is this doubling of travel coming from. It's not double the cost.
Half of the Big12 is just as far anyways.

Only three Universities are east of Iowa (Cincinatti, WV, and UCF) for the Big 12. Those travel costs are much higher for all sports joining the Big 10.

Looks like the ASU president isn't all on board with the Big12 Bor getting frustrated.
There's supposedly another PAC12(9?) media meeting tomorrow that the remaining schools will attend. The Apple deal is also expiring this week.
PAc12 death watch still ticking for one more day.

ASU is dumb as frick if they pass on this.
The interview I was listening to earlier said the school president has been a PAC 12 stalwart but that the disaster of a media deal opened his eyes to how big an issue this is. But the caveat was that he could always reverse himself.

It's cheaper to fly to Ames, Manhattan, Lawrence, Lubbock, Cincy and Morgantown than it is to fly to Newark, Indianapolis, DC, Columbus?
I dont think so
Further doesn't mean more expensive

Especially with Oregon and Washington headed out the door.
I think by tomorrow or Saturday Utah and ASU will have joined Arizona in the Big12.
And good for them.

If they aren't in talks with the Big 10 they need to lock up the Big 12 invite. ASU is a very big school in a big population city and has more research money than people assume. But they do not want to end up being the most valuable school in a devalued PAC.
