There is an epidemic of stadiums being too god damn loud

I dont know where else to complain about this and I don't know if it's because im getting old and low T. But I went with my family and 4 year old son to a minor league baseball game this weekend and it was unbelievably loud. Every break in play was filled with the PA guy screaming or music being blasted so loud you couldn't talk to the person next to you.
We're going to national power Rutgers vs Umass on Thursday with my son again and I'm dreading it cause it's going to be unbearably loud like it was last year.
am I the only one who thinks this? am I just gay?

I remember as a youngster my boomer uncle telling me that back in his day attending college FB games the refs would actaully penalize the home team if the crowd noise was too loud! I couldn't even believe it.
If you're going to a sporting event, there will be noises. I don't know what you expected honestly

I'm with OP on this honestly. I want raucous SEC crowds making the grond shake on big plays or 3rd downs. I don't want to hear Stella Lefty blasted from speaker at near 120 dB. I also want to listen to local sports talk without the commercials being too loud. The problem isn't the volume, its that the wrong things are loud.

This need to fill every second of a live sporting event with noise is ridiculous. I always feel like stadiums hire some guido from New Jersey as their events/sound coordinator. They try to turn college football into a rave club. Here's a novel idea: let the marching band provide the music. Otherwise, just let the moment breathe.

I'm with you on the piped in music at stadiums. It's definitely gotten ridiculous. Organic crowd noise is fine and adds to the atmosphere of going to a game. But blasting music throughout the game is annoying

I am a “stadium chaser,” particularly for baseball. My travels have told me that my home stadium is super loud with between innings promos and music. You can’t chat with the person next to you without it being an issue, and that’s not good at all ballgame. The pace of baseball lends itself to a relaxed environment where you can socialize if need be. It’s simple…just turn the volume down a bit.

Piped in music and constant adds truly kill the spirit of the atmosphere. It’s especially bad in the NBA but it’s spreading to all other sports.

This is the biggest thing. Noise and atmosphere are great. I think it’s the artificial noise and atmosphere that detracts at times. I know wrong board and all but that’s one of the best things about soccer to me both live and watching on TV.

Every time I stepped foot in Neyland last year, you could hardly even hear the band playing because they now insist on blaring the same dozen or so songs over the speakers at every single opportunity. It has completely ruined the atmosphere

It's obnoxious; part of the joy of going to a sporting event is being able to talk to other people. It's even at the high school level, where the "DJ" (all they're doing is hitting the spacebar to start and stop music) is playing music even while play is going on. Furthermore, they blast it at 105 decibels, and you cannot have a conversation with the person next to you. The organizers think that everyone has ADHD and has to be constantly entertained. No, just STFU and let us enjoy the sporting event; I do not need to hear trashy rap during every break. This is the main reason I attend far fewer sporting events. I could go to a Kentucky football or basketball game at any time (I live in KY), but I will pass every time unless someone wants to go. I went to a local soccer game and the PA was broken, and it was amazing.

This. I love crowds getting loud, but I cannot stand the constant blaring of music, where you cannot have a conversation with the person next to you. Some music, ok. Moderate volume? Ok.

It's probably affected my interest in attending games too. Every stadium is the same loud, over-produced experience now, in every sport.
I don't want to feel like I'm trapped inside a TV commercial for 4 hours.
