I am a Packer fan and fully expect SF to beat them because they have done so badly 3 times in the last 2 years.

However, GB is 6-2 with Rodgers (with a loss to SF) and 2-5-1 without him) so they are not a typical 8-7-1 team.

The schedule he missed was weaker than the one he participated in so if he hadn't been injured 12-4 wouldn't have been out of the question. That's not an excuse, just a statement of what they are.

Now, they are also missing a lot of other folks, some of whom are back, so maybe that would knock them back down to 10-6 or so, which is what they were when they won the SB last time.

They should keep the system to make the playoffs, I.e. 4 Division winners and 2 WC teams. But they should re-seed the playoffs by record. No way a barely .500 team should host a 11-5 team.

I feel the same way about the NBA when the East will have 5 teams below .500 in the playoffs

It's pretty high-level logic so I understand when most people don't get it
if by high-level you mean terrible, I agree.

It's the perfect system. You don't get rewarded for doing well in a weak division
getting to play a home playoff game while going 7-9 or 8-7-1 is not getting rewarded?

Green Bay is 8-7-1 and yet, they are making the playoffs over 10-6 Arizona and get to host 12-4 San Francisco in a playoff game.

This doesn't bother me at all.

Seattle hosted one at 7-9 3 years ago.
and won

well yeah they won. not exactly the shocking part here.. they were the home team.. the other team had to travel cross country.

They won't get rid of the divisions. What they should do is make winning the division an automatic playoff berth, but seed the teams by record.
So the seeds would look like this

NFC:
Seattle
Carolina
San Francisco
New Orleans
Philadelphia
Green Bay

The AFC would look the same.

When are NO Saints fans not bitching about something?

It's like they believe everyone has a personal vendetta against the organization.

I just read that 3 of the 4 games this weekend are still under blackout rules. Green Bay, Cinn, & Indy all have thousands of unsold tickets.

If that's true I am VERY surprised they aren't selling out Lambeau

It's simple really. Just guarantee the division winners a playoff spot then let the best records determine seeding allowing two wildcards

Doesn't matter. Lamebeau or San Fran, the result will be the same as the last 3 ....niners on top.

No, it's not.

You're right, it's an error.

Division winners should get the auto-bid. Re-seed the playoffs once you get all 6 teams in. It's not really difficult.

Seattle was the better team. When it was all on the line, they went BEAST MODE.

And the system is fine as is. Win your division and you can host a playoff game.
