frick the Cardinals. They went 9-7 in 2008 and got to host two playoff games against teams that had better records.

I'm fine with division winners and 2 wild cards going, but the seeding should be done by record.
A team barely above .500 should not get a home playoff game against a 12-4 team.

Yeah, I was wondering what powerhouses were in the central division.

Saints fan says: win your own division

Green Bay is 8-7-1 and yet, they are making the playoffs over 10-6 Arizona and get to host 12-4 San Francisco in a playoff game
Neither team won their division. The Cardinals benefited from the system recently when they won home playoff games with lousy records.
I wouldn't count the Packers out anyway, they have maybe the best QB in the NFC playing for them if he's healthy

Typical saints fan bitching but if it was reversed they would bitch
if the saints won the division @ 7-9 and had to host a 12-4 team, I'd still think its idiotic. The better team has to travel, which is dumb.
People's response "then win your division"
What if both teams went 15-1 and one had to travel to a 7-9 team. Exactly how dumb is that?

it should be 4 division winners and 2 teams with the best record of the field. Seeding should be determined on record.
1. Seattle
2. Carolina
3. 49ers
4. Saints
5. Eagles
6. Packers

Tough break, but someone has to take the fall.

A better argument would be "don't finish 8-7-1 and expect to host a playoff game."

Sorry, the packers were in a harder division and won it. If San Fran doesn't like that they should have won their division.

The screwy thing about this year is that the 2 toughest divisions played each other (Central and West) so the disparity is really greater than the record differential. We'll see how it works out.
whats the central???

I just read that 3 of the 4 games this weekend are still under blackout rules. Green Bay, Cinn, & Indy all have thousands of unsold tickets.
11k for GB which is crazy esp with a waiting list of 100k for season tix.

I like it how it is.
It's very cut-and-dry what you need to make the playoffs. You know before the season even starts. Win your division. No one should be "going for" WC spots. Win the division. That's it. If your division has good teams (see: Arizona) then you have to beat them and finish better. Very simple.
I love it. This as opposed to college where, even if you're perfect and win every game all year, you can be left out because of human bias. stupidest shite in the history of time

as a 49er fan it is kind of frustrating but it is what it is

I love the NFL playoff system except for this part, which isn't a big deal.
But yes, if I had my way, NOLA and SF would be hosting this weekend due to better records, with both winners traveling next weekend.

I'm still in the 90s.
Lucky I didn't call it the Century Division.

No. The better team (7-9 Seattle) won.
If the Saint's were much better than that Seattle team they should have won .
This isn't college where the better team is subjective. The NFL does it on the field & the Seahawks won.
If the Saints can't beat a 7-9 team on the road what the hell makes you think they will, beat a 13-3 or 14-2 division winner?
