College football is better than ever

I was thinking this was already a lot more common than it actually is, apparently only a handful of schools do this already.

I'm about done with college football. I purchased NFL Sunday Ticket for the first time ever this year. If I'm gonna watch professional football, might as well watch the real thing.

For DECADES the schools didn't seem to feel too bad about constantly raising ticket prices to point where at many places a single season ticket costs $1,000 - $1,5000+. Of course, that includes the school imposed required "donation" just for the right to buy a $500+ season ticket. The conferences and member schools haven't seemed to feel too bad about negotiating larger, and larger TV contracts, and I don't see the conferences refusing to accept the hundreds of millions they get annually, nor the schools giving back their share of tens of millions. The coaches haven't seemed to feel too bad about leveraging multi-million dollar salaries with multi-million dollar buyouts when they are inevitably fired.

But yes, money has only become an issue since 2021 because the players would like their share of the hundreds of millions they help generate

Instead of taking proactive steps as college football and basketball became more and more lucrative entertainment businesses (not that different from the NFL and NBA) over the last several decades, the NCAA continued on with the farce that major conf football and basketball were just "amateur" extracurriculars. The result was the damn finally breaking (with some help from the country losing all sense of rational thinking and foresight during the panicdemic) all at once, allowing wealthy fans to openly control the marketplace.

Does Ohio State want to have a sponsorship with JP Morgan? Probably not. But when Michigan donors are willing to pay millions for a QB, and the big southern power donors are willing to do the same for their schools, OSU fans demand OSU "keep pace".

Stop watching.
