It's pretty amazing they could hold up to make the conference finals, based on the minutes he has guys play.

The good thing about Thibs is that once he's fired, the guys do retain a lot of his defensive ideas. Thibs is still woefully underprepared and uncreative on offense.

Dumars needs to fire Willie Green right now and go after Mike Malone or Thibs.

The fact that Joe Dumars is president of an NBA team in 2025 is still shocking

I agree with this, but if he runs Brunson into the ground and he’s shot in 2 seasons, that’s a pretty bad result too

Meh. Kerr was running Steph out in his mid 30's pretty much the same minutes Brunson was putting in under Thibs. Early in his career Steph had 36 and 38mpg seasons, more than Brunson had under Thibs. And Brunson has less wear on his treads given his first few years in the league he wasn't a full time starter for his first 3.5 years in the league.

Not saying it wasn't Brunson that got him fired, but he wasn't running him into the ground.

i don't think any other coach in the league will use Mitch as optimally as Thibodeau used him... the next guy will try to get him more involved offensively but idk if Mitch has what it takes

NBA head coaching makes zero sense, they just throw these guys out randomly

This move will backfire on them.

Thib has aged like shite. Looks like a different person from when he coached the Bulls.

Do great things as an NBA coach —> get fired hastily.

And now we know this was KAT going to his buddy Leon Rose and Rose deciding to dump Tibbs for KATs sake. You’re probably right, this stinks of implosion incoming.

I'm sure KAT didn't like the clearly planned Athletic article that dumped on him like 90 minutes after the series ended but don't know if KAT has that much power yet. Especially with the added complication of the actual franchise player's dad being on Thibs' staff.

I don’t follow the NBA closely, but it’s crazy how quickly franchises are tossing aside successful head coaches these days.

I think we have gotten used to seeing teams/stars “coast” a little in the regular season then kick into another gear in the playoffs. I think Tibs gets the most out of his players all year, but runs into better teams and can’t crank it up anymore in the playoffs. This NYK’s roster isn’t great or anything.

Yeah but he wanted Brunson so bad they tampered and his dad is on staff. If they've given KAT that much power already they're really gonna implode.

Has Chicago been as good as when he left?
Minnesota is finally good again but it took them four or five years?
