In 17 years with Jon Daniels, he has had more managers than playoff appearances. How does he still have a job? What a joke franchise.

It's clear Chris Young has been given the keys to the franchise. He's going to go get the guy he wants, not inherited. It's not like he's anything special that can't be replaced.

Didn't give him more time! Maybe Kelly at LSU will be given more time to turn it around?

Local media is throwing out these names. Lets assume its one of these 4 and Wash isnt a candidate, who would you want? Note: The last 4 Rangers managers have been first time managers and most think they want a veteran to lead this young roster and farm system.

Joe Maddon
Mike Scioscia
Bruce Bochy

Is this a possibility? I don't keep up with the Rangers as much as I use to.

No. He wouldn’t even want it. He’s said numerous times he likes his schedule as special assistant because he works when he wants and doesn’t want a full time job to take him away from his family. His boys are all in school and playing ball.

That's actually pretty incredible.

They're 6-24 in one-run games and their actual record is six games worse than their Pythagorean expected win-loss record. Now, that might all just be bad luck but the Rangers have grossly underachieved record wise in comparison to how their players have actually performed this year.

Annnnnnd what happens the 1st game after they fire Woodward? They WIN a 1 run game.

Imagine Chris Woodward at his place watching the game from his recliner just dog cussing himself/the team/at the tv as they win like that on the same day he's fired.

I speak for all Rangers fans when I say - we just built a cathedral, and a new day is upon us. The Texas Rangers are the rising sun. We'll be there soon, suckers.

Not accurate, actually. They have been to the postseason five times and have had four managers, even counting Buck Showalter for one season, whom he inherited and was told to fire.

Daniels hired Ron Washington and Jeff Banister, who both got them to the postseason. Woodward is his first hire who didn't.

This old thing about blaming Daniels and "running off" Nolan, etc., etc., is trite and misleading. They have been rebuilding their farm system and are finally in a position to contend next season.
The Astros did the same thing with Bo Porter. From 2011-14 Houston lost 416 games. They turned that into high draft picks that got them George Springer, Carlos Correa, Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman.
To take the rebuilt Astros over the top, they fired Porter and brought in AJ Hinch.
Same thing Daniels and the Rangers are trying to do.

I'm a Rangers fan and we had a cathedral. What we built was a damn natural gas grill.

Ahhhh shite.

CY hostile takeover and he seems to really have a plan. His vision of the franchise was what supposedly eased Al Leiter’s opinion on Jack signing with the team.

Supposedly had told him not to sign if Texas picked him initially.

Maybe they'll spend a half billion on pitching this off season. I suppose CY has realized that's the other half of the equation?
