1998 Kansas State
2011 LSU

Bonus round: 2011 Alabama would be in that pantheon had they beaten LSU in the regular season.

If 2011 had played out with LSU/Bama being undefeated we're more than likely talking about one of them in the GOAT conversation. Still not 100% sold theyd be up there with the other 3 but it'd be at least a conversation.

2011 LSU was great but did all that without a QB

2011 LSU and Alabama get beat by the title teams. Even with those stupid good defenses they had

2016 and 2018 Alabama were getting GOAT talk before playing Clemson.

I don't know why LSU gets this rep nor do I know why they were getting GOAT discussion during that 2011 season.

You can't be in a GOAT discussion when you have a terrible QB.

Jefferson started the SEC Championship and National Title Game and had 83 yards passing...total in those 2 games.

Great team, no doubt, but not even the best in their conference that season.

As an A&M fan I'd say you got the year right, but Ohio State was the correct team not K-State.

They just dominated top 10 teams with ease all year long. It was just a year-long physical mismatch.

Bc they destroyed every team on the schedule except Bama. This was a very difficult schedule which included the Pac10 champ Oregon and WV which I think won their conference that year.

I never understood this one. USC was constantly being compared to the all time great teams. Texas goes undefeated, beating USC in their backyard, and doesn’t get that same treatment. It’s not like USC played a gauntlet schedule.

1997 FSU - lost very close game to UF in Gainesville, in one of Spurrier's best coached games ever and an electric atmosphere. They deserved a playoff spot but there wasn't one, obviously.

That team would have beaten the brakes off of Michigan.

2009 UF - best roster, on paper, of any team in history. Worst coaching job in the history of CFB by Meyer.

In the past 25 yrs or so, there's fewer than 5 national champions that 95 Nebraska could beat. They are the most overrated champion ever. Take them out of being "up there".

No way 2011 LSU belongs anywhere near 2019, even if they won it all. No qb really hurt that team. Now talking defense alone is a different story.

The 2011 LSU team beat the winner of the Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the Cotton Bowl and the National Championship game in the same season.

With Tommie Frazier??

They would have ran over most of the teams. That was power football at its finest.

8 top 25 wins, undefeated and only one win by less than double digits.

We won that national title or at least a split. Should never have to play Bama again. It was supposed to be a split at worst. Just compare resumes that year. Bama isn't even close..
