Because it ruins the atmosphere and its a solution to a problem that is easily fixed other ways... Like pay fricking attention to the game instead of using it as social hour to play on your phone.

Why the sudden increase in people getting hit by foul balls and being injured??? The only thing that has changed isn’t he past 10 years is the prevalence of smart phones and people being distracted, leading to more injuries of late.

frick, while were at it, why not just put netting up around the outfield too. I mean, you don’t want someone to get hit by a 325ft home run...

But why does the net need to be extended all the way to foul pole? If the person immediately to the outside of the pole is in danger then the person inside the pole must be in the same danger too, but we are fine with that?

I agree the nets should be extended (at least at Minute Maid Park) but all the way to the foul poles seems too reactionary.

The little girl isnt an idiot but her parents are. And lets not act like teams gaf at all about people’s safety. They are protecting themselves against frivolous lawsuits

Because looking through a fricking net is terrible and makes you feel further separated from the action.

I never sit behind the netting. Alway get something just at or passed the dugout for clean line of sight.

But again, I don’t go for social hour, I go to enjoy the game and actually pay attention.

To each his own... But this is a recent issue and clubs are trying to solve an issue that shouldn’t exist if people were responsible.

Again, why not just wrap the entire field in netting... Someone 275 ft down the 3rd base line is going to have a ball come as them just as fast as someone 325 ft in the outfield seats...

Zero reason not to. If you’re going to go the entire lines, shite, just frick the entire experience of attending a game and wrap the outfield too.

Just imagine how much money the teams will save in baseballs

I want to single out this post. This is a fricking American man.

Not the garbage MSB SJW’s that constantly post on this board.

It’s a fricking baseball game. Keep your head on a swivel.

JFC. We couldn’t survive another World War if we got people bitching about netting at a baseball game in this fricking thread.

Man the frick up you millennials

As opposed to having no netting you do. It's just not as distracting as those who have never sat behind netting would think. Taking safety out of the equation, I can't imagine anyone saying it's not noticeable enough to matter to them. I want to sit closer to the game so I'll take the extra netting, especially if sitting down the lines.

On the other takes in the thread - I wish everyone would stop reading facebook comments from their "look at me at the game" pic too but shite, those balls hit people talking to their seat neighbors or looking down at their nachos just as easily as those looking at their phones. Only way to really be safe is behind a net.

But the further up the foul line you sit the more of an angle you will be looking towards home plate and this will have the visual effect of reducing the size of the netting squares and impeding vision more than sitting behind home plate.

That’s a good call, didn’t even think of that.

Either way, the owners are going to do what it takes to protect themselves from frivolous us lawsuits. But again, NOTHING has changed except for more people being distracted while attending games.
