Ohtani is the first player since 1900 with 10 strikeouts and three hits in multiple games in a single season.

The guy is fun to watch and I'm glad he's having the success he's having in the bigs.

He makes hitting homers look so easy.

Sometimes people make a comment about players winning a game by themselves, but this is literally winning a game by yourself .

(With a little help from the defense of course)

I'm curious how long it will be before we see another Ohtani. And I'm not even talking about an Ohtani clone. Just of a usage case as a rotation pitcher and everyday bat. I'm wondering what the odds are of even finding a player who can succeed in both.

Ohtani will be a trendsetter. Every kid playing backyard ball will fancy himself a staff ace and middle of the lineup hitter. And two way players aren't exceedingly rare at the high school or college level but generally they're forced to pick a lane if they're good enough to get drafted. But at some teams are going to want to copy cat and groom their own Ohtani.

I remember when he came over and everyone (myself included) said he would have to choose.

There was no way he could be a middle of the road caliber MLB starting pitcher AND a MLB caliber bat.

He’s now a cy young caliber arm and mvp level bat.

The angels have had both Trout and Ohtani and have done nothing with them.

Yup...that's the Angels all right.

Dude goes 3 for 3 and can only drive himself him by hitting homers.

I hope Otani doesn’t waste his career on that bum organization like Trout did

He's a generational player.

Too bad he got drafted by the Angels.

He wasnt drafted, he was signed

And his was an interesting case because he lost a lot of potential money by signing when he did

It’s going to be an interesting case study after this winter. He’s going to shatter the North American pro sports contract most likely and get over half a billion guaranteed. He would have been eligible for international FA after 2020 (I think). I don’t think he would have gotten close to that had he stayed in Japan and come over as a true FA. Maybe 300 million or so? Maybe not even that? It would have been a lot, but not nearly as much as he will get this winter. And he would have been locked into it for a while.

The term “generational athlete” gets thrown around a lot these days, way too loosely. Ohtani is a multi generational talent IMO

Legit superstar. Just wished he would learn to speak English. Just rubs me wrong after all these years in league.

You don't even see kids in peewee leagues dominate like that.

Simply incredible.
