What probably happened is everyone else said no and he was the only live body who said yes. I doubt after a brutal NFL season quarterbacks are chomping at the bit to play and risk injury in an absolutely meaningless game.
It's not even an actual game anymore. It's a flag football game. It's also not even a stand alone event. It's being held in conjunction with Super Bowl week.
Sanders is on the team because, without question, just about every other AFC QB declined the invite. IMO, this will probably be the last year they have the "pro bowl"...or close to the last year. The only interest the players used to have in it was because many had a bonus clause in their contracts for making it. Now, with none of the players caring about the pro bowl, I doubt such a clause is being written into any recent contracts.

How? Did Privers, Thuntley, and Stidham decline their offer?
Posted on 1/26/26 at 3:40 pm to LSUtigaz020
Oh my. This can’t be real??

Yet another Sanders post. Why not post on something relevant like how horrible Stidham and Maye played yesterday.

I used to watch these all the time on NFLN. The best part was always the long throw (strongest arm) competition. I remember one year Vinny Testaverde who I never remembered being talked about as especially strong armed threw that fricker like 85 yards or something ridiculous

Much deserved young man, coming from a religious and strong background this is so rewarding. Prayers up for more accolades. I know Deion is proud, as he should

In his 2025 rookie season with the Cleveland Browns, Shedeur Sanders recorded an 18.9 ESPN or 19.0 Instagram QBR across eight games, finishing with 1,400 passing yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Despite this low rating, which ranked among the lowest in NFL history for a quarterback with significant attempts, he was named to the Pro Bowl.
Wow that’s real
Must be nice being black
ETA can I trade him my white privilege card? It doesn’t do anything but I hear it’s a hot commodity in the SJW circles

Damn, I can’t use Mac Jones’ pro bowl in debates anymore

QBR is stupid. Sanders had a lower QBR in at least one game than QBs that had significantly worse games than him.

This is equivalent to Sinners getting the most nominations of all time at the Academy Awards

CJ Stroud and Cam Ward are just as black and had objectively better seasons.
I think you can hold onto your card unless your last name is Sanders and your daddy is a helicopter.

All the other actually good QBs in the AFC must have turned it down
Of course they did. Is this still a surprise to people?

Again, I would make a large wager that this has nothing to do with DEI or with his QBR or how well he played or when you get right down to it how much talent he has. I guarantee you he was the only AFC QB who said “yes” after Maye had to pull out.
I think fans think these players are warriors who love to compete so much that they’d play for nothing in a pickup game out in a cornfield. This game is MEANINGLESS and most of these guys aren’t going to be thrilled about risking their asses in a meaningless game for the glory of the damn AFC. There is no upside for them unless they have a big contractual bonus for making the Pro Bowl.
Will the usual suspects spin this selection for the usual purposes? Of course. Is what it is.

Shedeur is historically bad. Quite literally one of the five worst QB's with starting reps in the last 20 years.

He's the Jake Paul of NFL QB's.

I wish they would just retire the name "Pro Bowl". Scrap the whole thing.
Just award 1st, 2nd, & 3rd team All-Pro for accolades and call it good.
Maybe even break down to 1st-3rd team "NFC All-Pro" and "AFC All-Pro". I'd be good with that.
