HEY -- they're finally starting to get it.
Female sports are NOT worth watching because they SUCK. If I wanted to watch the equivalent of bad Boys JV basketball, I'd watch that instead -- there might be a decent player with some skills playing Boys JV basketball who is worth watching.

Brought to you by the people that unironically post charts like this

QR code at the base of the screen
To me, this is the dumbest element of the ad. What kind of person scans a code off their TV?

Whoever came up with that concept is stupid.
Not really, y'all are talking about it after someone started a thread. Seems as though it's working just fine...

This is like saying, Abita Beer should be worth just as much as Budweiser company wise.
No one watches the WNBA, I don't know why they can't figure that out.

We’re talking about it.
They win.
They win.

Anything that has to do with women or women in power people lose their minds on here. LOL. So insecure.
This is how it normally goes. Women will try anything to get a man's attention and then when they go to far and insult said man, they play it off and say they are overreacting, or insecure, or whatever type of phobe of the day the left is using.

THAT is the point. The fact that we are here talking about how stupid the commercial is, has not increased the level of interest in watching women's sports. Your little "gotcha" attempt missed the mark pretty badly, friend.

In advertising you want people talking about it, good or bad. Cause any publicity is good publicity.
This is one of those accepted "truths" that always gets repeated, but is utter bullshite. Advertising works when people actually buy the product. Nothing less, nothing more. New Coke had everyone talking about it, yet it was yanked from the shelves quickly. Why? People hated it. ("But, but, any publicity is good publicity.")
This is one of those campaigns that people will remember long after the actual product sponsor. Hell, in six months almost no one will remember it was Buick that wasted money on this drivel.

To be fair, the black screen and QR code are more attention grabbing than women's sports.

The constant attempt to guilt men into watching women's sports because they can't generate enough support from their own gender is so much fun to watch.

The first version of this commercial was about a buzzer beater to knock off uconn women in the final four.
They make it seem like it wasn’t televised and people were unable to watch it, when in reality it was broadcast live on espn and anybody who cared enough could’ve easily seen it.
Exactly!
The game the commercial references was broadcast nationally on ESPN. The same network that broadcasts the college football national championship. It wasn't as if the game was on some obscure network only available in a few markets. It widely available for ANYONE who wanted to watch it. The fact that people did not wasn't a result of a "lack of exposure" as the commercial suggests. It was because people did not want to consume the product.
The premise of the commercial is that Buick is committed to shoving a product the public clearly doesn't have a huge demand for down their throat simply in the name of "equity". That is a terrific way to sell a product.

It is kind of a weird for Buick to complain about women's sports not getting enough media coverage while college swimming is getting more attention than ever because the NCAA let a man compete against women

No, that's not how it works. It's incredible that you would double down on someone else's dumb comment.
Speaking negatively about a commercial on a message board is not driving interest to women's sports. If it did, women's sports would have a ton of interest. We make fun of crap like this on a regular basis. It doesn't make the product less terrible, or more watchable.

BUT WATCH THE WOMEN!!!
I tried! As an LSU fan I wanted so bad to enjoy watching our WBB girls in the tourney. But it’s so damn awful to watch. I couldn’t watch either game in its entirety. At this point I’m ready for trans dudes to take it over so it’ll be better basketball to watch!

Was that peloton commercial with the lady a success?
Some publicity is bad for the brand.

No, they win if we start watching crappy women's sports, not from us making fun of a stupid commercial. Even when State was in back to back titles I couldn't watch that garbage. I tried, but it was like watching paint dry. Had to turn it to an MLB Spring Training game.

They should be thankful that they have an opportunity to play sports as a career,
Went to an LSU tennis match about maybe the early 90's. They were playing Auburn. 6 singles matches and 3 doubles matches at that time.
1 went against 1, 2 went against 2 and so on.
The 1 two and 3 seeds were pretty good players, but when you got to the 4 seed the quality started to dip fairly significantly and the 5 and 6 seeds were downright awful - I could have competed against them honestly.
And these were scholarship athletes, getting full tuition due to Title 9 guidelines. I can only imagine how bad the girls on Southland and Sunbelt tennis teams were at that time.
I doubt it's still that way. I would imagine over the years the quality has increased due to opportunity and there are more good women's tennis players, but I have no idea. My point is that they should be thankful for the opportunity and not take it for granted. Quit being the victim.
