she, quite literally, said recently that the big cities should be able to impose their wills on the rest of the country because they are racially diverse and their opinion matters more than flyover country.

Does everyone know the origin of the tweet? JH was referencing a hotel elevator. I think it’s common sense if a solo woman gets off on a floor, then a man steps off behind her, for that woman not allow that man to walk behind her as she walks to her room and enters it.
Jemele Hill is a miserable person, and is constantly looking for ways to play the victim, but this hotel elevator scenario is common sense.

i was at dinner with my dad's family recently after a funeral and my uncle was putting his hands on the small of our waitress' back every time she stood by him. totally creeped me out, but after i thought about it, he'd always been that way, i just haven't been around him in the era of #metoo. just like with the racists, just have to hope this generation dies out.
that being said, i'm still going to be a gentleman to ladies and Hill can GFH.

No doubt, but it's possible to exercise cautiousness and be aware of your surroundings without believing every stranger on an elevator is a potential rapist.

Exactly. Because it is Jemele Hill a lot of people are (understandably) interpreting her comment and SVP's response as some crazy irrational opinion/response. But I think the context was being on a hotel floor or other type of vulnerable situation where there aren't other people around. She isn't talking about her office building or something like that. My wife is anything but a SJW and she sure as hell is mindful and cautious in situations like this. Will teach daughter to be the same way. Don't have to make a big deal out if it, but pay attention.

I’m genuinely surprised to see the mass man-melt about this. Maybe if y’all lived in bigger cities, you’d understand.
If I was walking home and there was a woman ahead of me for a couple blocks, I’d speed up and pass her so she wouldn’t feel followed. That kind of thing becomes kind of second-nature when you line in a big city and a big apartment building.
